When a play appears to be reaching its expected conclusion and under is control, that's when Teressa Fazio steps in.

The Cold Spring Harbor striker does not take anything for granted, just in case the unexpected loose ball or rebound should present itself.

"In practice we always have to follow the ball," Fazio said. "We never cannot follow the rebound."

Fazio stuck with the play Thursday and scored two goals to lead No. 2 Cold Spring Harbor past No. 3 Wheatley, 5-0, in the Nassau Class B girls soccer semifinals at Denton Avenue Park.

Chase Burke scored from just outside the 6-yard box in the 54th minute, the third Seahawks goal in a 10-minute span of the second half, which gave them total control of the game. Chelsea Tuohy scored on a 30-yard looping shot from the left side in the 50th minute and Fazzio scored her 10th goal of the season when she collected a rebound and scored from 10 yards out in the 44th minute.

"I'll say that third goal made me comfortable. Two goals is never enough," Cold Spring Harbor coach Steve Cacioppo said.

Alicia Roy added a goal on a free kick from 35 yards out in the 72nd minute.

Fazio scored from the right side of the 18-yard box to put the Seahawks on the board in the 24th minute.

Samantha Maher made seven saves for Cold Spring Harbor, including two against Wheatley's leading scorer, Rebecca Braito, in the first half. Jamie Sellinger made nine saves for Wheatley (6-8-0).

Cold Spring Harbor, the four-time defending county champion, faces No. 1 Carle Place in the final on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Denton Ave. Park.

Carle Place (9-3-0) defeated No. 4 Oyster Bay, 1-1 (3-2 PKs), in the other semifinal. Nicole Veigas made a diving save to her left side in the fifth round of the shootout to seal the win for the Frogs.

Emily Siringo kicked in a rebound to give Oyster Bay (3-10-1) a 1-0 lead in the first half. Carle Place's Amanda Machado scored from the right side of the 18-yard box to tie the score in the 42nd minute.
