We are family: Lawrence heads to Nassau III final
Led by touchdowns from all three Fredericks brothers, No. 2 Lawrence (9-1) dismantled No. 3 Lynbrook, 29-6, in the Nassau Conference III semifinals at Hofstra. The Golden Tornados will take on Plainedge in the county final.
Ryan Fredericks scored on a 7-yard TD run with 5:51 left in the first quarter to open the scoring for Lawrence, which never trailed. Lynbrook drew to within 7-6 on Rocco Scibelli's 4-yard run around right end with 1:25 left in the first - helped along by Luke Spitzer's 31-yard pass over the middle to Johnny Emmerich the play prior. Tyler Fredericks added a one-yard score with no time left in the first half.
Joe Capobianco capped off a 10-play, 65-yard drive to open up the third quarter by hitting freshman Jordan Fredericks on a fade to the short side of the end zone with 8:13 left for the 18-yard score. The Golden Tornados regained possession shortly after on an interception by Andrew Cafiero, which ended with another Ryan Fredericks score: a one-yard plunge to seal the game.
