FIRST TEAM

PLAYER OF THE YEAR
JESSICA DAHLDORF
Poly Prep, Sr. M

Dahldorf capped a spectacular career in Bay Ridge with 62 goals and 21 assists, including five in a 16-15 loss to rival Riverdale in the NYSAISAA tournament quarterfinals. The senior middie, who had 142 goals and 37 assists in her final two high school seasons, was the Blue Devils team MVP and earned first team All-Ivy honors. She leaves behind a legacy at Poly Prep and will play for defending NCAA champion Northwestern next spring.

ERIN JACOBSON
Curtis, Sr. G

A three-year starter, Jacobson made 122 saves during the regular season and 44 more in the playoffs, including 12 in a semifinal win over Midwood that booked the Warriors third appearance in the PSAL final. A standout on the Curtis volleyball team in the winter, one of O’Gara’s biggest contributions came four years ago when she convinced Taylor O’Gara to try out for lacrosse.

BRIDGET O’HARA
Staten Island Academy, Sr. D

One year removed from losing to the Chapin School in the AAIS title game, Staten Island Academy gave up two fewer goals in a championship-game rematch and O’Hara was a big difference defensively for the Tigers. A four-year starter, O’Hara joined teammate Bethany Claps in the Mayor’s Cup, where the independent schools won the title.

BETHANY CLAPS
Staten Island Academy, Sr. D

The Smith College-bound senior had one goal and one assist, but her value was as a senior leader defensively. The four-year starter guided the Tigers to a league title and a berth in the NYSIASAA tournament. She was also one of her school’s stars on the hardwood, leading SIA in scoring and to the AAIS crown.

CARLY CHIERICO
Cardozo, Sr. M

The senior midfielder scored 38 goals and added 15 assists during the regular season, helping lead the Judges to the PSAL Class A semifinals. She had a goal, an assist and six groundballs in a 9-5 loss to Beach Channel in the semis. An all-around athlete, Chierico also played soccer and tennis at Cardozo and will attend Farmingdale State College in the fall.

VICTORIA ORLICK
Tottenville, Sr. M

Orlick more than doubled her scoring output from her junior year, scoring 47 goals in 14 regular season games and adding eight more in the playoffs. None, though, were bigger than her sudden death, fourth overtime goal to lift Tottenville over Curtis in the PSAL championship game. Orlick’s fourth goal of the game helping the Pirates win a second straight city title.

TAYLOR O’GARA
Curtis, Sr. M

No one scored more goals in the PSAL than the prolific O’Gara, who put the ball in the cage a PSAL-record 98 times in league play and 104 times overall. She also added a total of 17 assists, helping lead the Warriors to the PSAL title game where they lost in four overtimes to rival Tottenville. Despite the defeat, O’Gara, who was also named the PSAL Wingate Award winner, garnered game MVP honors after scoring seven goals.

LINDSAY PICARD
Riverdale, Sr. M

After helping guide the Falcons to the NYSAISAA title as a junior, Picard scored 71 goals and had 21 assists to help lead Riverdale to the NYSAISAA semifinals where she scored four times in a one-goal loss to Hackley. The senior midfielder finished her career in style, scoring six goals and earning MVP honors in the annual Mayor’s Cup.

SAM AVIS
Staten Island Academy, Jr. A

The junior didn’t lead Staten Island Academy in scoring, but no one scored bigger goals than Avis, who netted 31 goals and 15 assists, including five goals and one assist against the Chapin School in the AAIS tournament-title clincher and scored four goals and added an assist against Tottenville as the Tigers captured the Staten Island Lacrosse League title.

ANNA MCGOVERN
Mary Louis, Sr. A

Named the Nassau/Suffolk Class A most valuable player as a junior, McGovern helped guide The Mary Louis Academy to a second straight title game appearance where the Hilltoppers fell to St. Dominic. The versatile senior and leader of the budding program could play everywhere on the lacrosse field and was also a standout defender on the Mary Louis soccer team.

COACH OF THE YEAR
LEONARD HESSION
Tottenville

Leonard Hession knows nothing but winning city titles in his two years as Tottenville girls lacrosse coach. A year ago, the Pirates beat Curtis for their first championship since 2007, winning the title for former coach John Cucuzza’s cancer-stricken wife Jaime. Hession’s squad repeated this year, beating Curtis in a memorable four-overtime thriller. What will Hession do for an encore?
