No. 1 Monsignor Farrell (10-4)

It wasn’t a big surprise that Monsignor Farrell beat perennial New Jersey powerhouse St. Benedict’s, but the Lions impressed with the lopsidedness of the victory.

Next: St. Joseph by the Sea/Long Island Lutheran (Jan. 4, 5 p.m.)

No. 2 Brooklyn Tech (7-1)

The Engineers are officially the favorite to win the PSAL title after defeating rival Grand Street Campus, 45-34, in a rematch of last year’s title game, last Wednesday in Brooklyn.

No. 3 Horace Mann (10-2)

Horace Mann ended 2011 on a good note, beating Hackley, 44-24. Justin Gilston went 5-0 and was named champion of the Clarkstown North tournament last Saturday.

No. 4 Grand Street Campus (6-1)

The Wolves were close, but again couldn’t knock off Brooklyn Tech, losing 45-34 in a battle between the top two PSAL teams in the city.

No. 5 Fordham Prep (8-4)

The Rams followed up a solid performance in the CHSAA City Crossover Duals by beating Salesian in a league contest last Tuesday.

No. 6 Poly Prep (1-0)

The Blue Demons have been idle since opening the season with an impressive 75-3 rout of Riverdale.

No. 7 James Madison (6-1)

The Golden Knights defeated Lincoln after splitting a dual meet with co-Brooklyn South division leaders FDR and Wingate.

No. 8 FDR (9-1)

The Cougars defeated Wingate, but then fell to James Madison. Only two of the three co-leaders in PSAL Brooklyn South will make the playoffs.

No. 9 Wingate (6-1)

The Generals rebounded from a tough loss to FDR to defeat James Madison in what is the best division in the PSAL.

No. 10 St. Joseph by the Sea (12-2)

Michael Dudziec, Nick Martucci and Justin Platorati led the Vikings to wins against Mount St. Michael, Salesian and Stepinac at the CHSAA City Crossovers last Saturday.

No. 11 Petrides (11-2)

Metin Vrlaku, Michael Esposito, William Tuite, Tyson Simon, Rob Kowalik, Chris Durazzo and John Jackson led Petrides to a 57-24 win against CSI/McCown and a 68-12 victory against Xaverian.

No. 12 Tottenville (6-0)

Led by Peter Paoletta, Nik Azen, Nick Borriello, Marc Ahne, Michael Khanis, Marcel Vorona and Dan DePalo, the Pirates defeated New Dorp and Susan Wagner last week.

No. 13 Curtis (9-4)

The Warriors bounced back from disappointing losses to Petrides and Tottenville to defeat Port Richmond and MSIT.

No. 14 Eagle Academy (8-3)

Led by seniors Xavier Thomas and Trevor Alston as well as sophomore Nigel Williams, Eagle cruised to wins against Clinton and Fannie Lou Hamer Thursday.

After losing a non-league match to Sayville, the Mountaineers defeated Stepianc to end 2011 on a positive note.
