The most heated Bronx PSAL rivalry is renewed Tuesday afternoon when Wings Academy takes on John F. Kennedy live on MSGVarsity.com at 5 p.m.

Wings took the first meeting, beating JFK 56-50 at home on Dec. 8. In that game, Steven Gomez was a dominant force inside, as the 6-foot-7 senior forward had 19 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, including a ferocious two-handed dunk two minutes into the second half.

Since that game, Wings (16-2) has continued to prove it is a legitimate city title contender with a strong third-place finish at the STOP-DWI Holiday Classic in Binghamton, as well as impressive victories against Bishop Loughlin and Eagle Academy.

Wings, which is ranked No. 13 in the Tri-State by MSG Varsity, has been led by Justin Jenkins, who has picked up scholarship offers from St. Peter’s, Fairfield and LIU. The senior guard is averaging 18.8 points and 7.2 assists per game in league play and can score in a variety of ways.

But it’s not just the Justin Jenkins show for Billy Turnage’s squad. When Wings is most successful, there are strong offensive contributions from several players, including juniors Marvillio Berroa (11.2 points) and Rice transfer Jaequan Brown (10.3 points, 8 rebounds), as well as Gomez (16.4 points, 9.6 rebounds).

JFK (11-5) is bolstered by the return of 6-foot-7 senior Muhammed Ahmed, who has drawn interest from Rutgers, Iowa State, Fordham, Hofstra, Manhattan and Marist, reuniting with younger brother Bashir, a sophomore forward who is averaging 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

In three games, including an 84-76 road win against Gompers on Jan. 5, Muhammed is averaging 13 points and six rebounds for the Knights, which has also lost twice to Eagle Academy and is coming off a two-point win against Manhattan Center.
