NYC wrestling power rankings (2/14/12)

No. 1 Monsignor Farrell (16-5)

Blaise Rufo, Tim McCann, Rrok Ndokaj, Matt Roberts and Richard Sisti all won individual CHSAA state titles Sunday, but Farrell fell just short of a first team crown since 2009, finishing second behind St. Anthony’s.

No. 2 Grand Street Campus (12-1)

Josh Antoine, Keanu Thompson, Jorje Jimenez and Anatoliy Anchakov all took home PSAL titles at the Large Schools division tournament at Petrides, booking a trip to Albany for the NYPHSAA State Championships later this month.

No. 3 Brooklyn Tech (11-2)

Zin Htoo, Cristian Masaya, Andreas Kokkoros and Patryk Kopczynski won individual PSAL titles for the PSAL runners up.

No. 4 Wingate (15-2)

He not only has the coolest name in the PSAL, but McZiggy Richards is also one of the city’s top wrestlers. He proved that by taking home the 182-pound title at the Large Schools tournament Sunday. Ahmed Elsayed also won the 132-pound championship.

No. 5 Horace Mann (20-3)

Led by individual champions Justin Gilston and Matt Russo, Horace Mann edged Long Island Lutheran to win its sixth consecutive NYS Private School championship and 11th in the last 12 years.

No. 6 Eagle Academy (12-6)

Nathanael Rose and Miguel Perez won individual championships at the PSAL Small School tournament.

Noah Malamut, Tyler Pearce, Roman Accetta and Mike Castellana won individual titles at the NYS Private School championship as the Blue Devils finished fourth overall.

Dolan McColgan, Metin Vrlaku, Tyson Simon and Christopher Durazzo won individual championships at the PSAL Small School tournament.

Sam Melikian captured the 126-pound title at the CHSAA State tournament Sunday as the Rams finished fifth overall.

Leon Gonzalez capture the 285-pound title at the PSAL Large Schools tournament.

Santo Curatolo captured the 113-pound title and was named Most Outstanding Wrestler at the PSAL Large Schools championships and Michael Gannone won at 126 pounds.
