Tuesday's afternoon livecast will feature a boys lacrosse showdown between CHSAA rivals Iona Prep and Fordham Prep.
Fordham Prep — which enters with a record of 0-4 — opened the season with a three-game road trip down in Texas. The Rams dropped a pair of one-goal games to Strake Jesuit (TX) and St. Ignatius Prep (IL) and fell to Dallas Jesuit, 6-2, in their final contest. Fordham Prep then opened up its league schedule with a 7-4 loss to Holy Trinity (LI) on March 31.
Rams attackman Ben Andreycak has been the standout through four games with a team-high nine goals and one assist. The Tufts-bound senior was Fordham Prep's leading scorer last season with an astounding 95 points (57G, 38A).
Colum Sleeper (3G), Connor Smith (1G, 3A), Joseph Delasho (2G) and Rob Grinnell (3A) have also put up numbers to round out the Rams' offensive production this season. Defensively, goalie Conor Gowan has been solid with a 67.1 save percentage and a goals against average of just six.
Iona Prep — which enters with a record of 1-1 — bounced back from its season-opening loss to Somers with a quality 14-9 win over Rye last night. Nazareth-bound attackman Luke Wooters led the way with a season-high six goals and has an eye-popping nine goals in two games.
Fellow attackman Shane Fee, a Bucknell-bound senior, put up two goals and one assist against Somers. At midfield, Michael McHugh has impressed thus far with a combined three goals and two assists. Teammates Hank DeSanti (2G, 1A), Brandon Standard (1G), Michael Orefice (1G), Phil Verre (1G) and Billy Trizano (1G) have also produced for the Gaels.
In 2011, Fordham Prep won all three matchups against Iona Prep, which had racked up 11 straight victories over the Rams from 2007-10. Dating back to 2001, the two teams have played a total of 28 times. The Gaels hold a slight 15-13 edge in the series.
On Tuesday, Fordham Prep can come a game closer to evening it up.
