As grand prize winners of MSG Varsity’s “Dash to the Desk” contest, held last spring, Hawthorne High School was awarded a brand new custom-designed school mascot.
On Sept. 24th, the Hawthorne Black Bear made it’s debut at a school-wide pep rally. Senior Alex Benjamin was given the honor of wearing the costume for the very first time. CHECK OUT A PHOTO OF ALEX IN ACTION! Alex won the Hawthorne “Be The Bear” Contest by writing an essay, and then impressing the panel of judges with his athleticism, enthusiasm and personality.
More than 700 students, faculty, cheerleaders and band members provided a spirited welcome for the new Hawthorne mascot.
