Francis Lewis (7-3) prepares to take on the Cardozo (10-0) girls volleyball team in the PSAL girls 'A' championship at Hunter College. This will be the third meeting for both teams this season after Cardozo took both match-ups with 2-0 sweeps.
The Patriots are coming off an exciting 2-1 comeback victory over #1 seeded Stuyvesant. After losing their first match 25-14, Francis Lewis took the next two rounds by slim two-point margins. Lisa Cargargo, Rivka Abramova, and Sandra Arcabascio had four aces each while Sandra Paickattu had all but one of the teams assists with 22.
Francis Lewis will have to follow up this big victory against a Lady Judges team that has had their number this season.
Cardozo is fresh off a 2-0 defeat of Susan Wagner, the same team they beat last season to win the PSAL 'A' title. In their latest win, Amy Sung led them with eight service points while Jessica Lou chipped in 28 assists. The Lady Judges will use a balanced attack as they attempt to win the 'A' title for the second straight season.
