St. Raymond Loses Steam vs. Christ the King

QUEENS, N.Y. -- Despite not having their future Division I point guard, Corey Edwards, Christ the King beat an undersized St. Raymond’s team 68-55 in the CHSAA Class AA intersectional boy’s basketball semifinals at St. John’s Wednesday night. While the victory was not surprising for the powerhouse Royals, it was a revelation into just how deep they were, to beat the Ravens without missing a beat.
“I didn’t even think about that once the ball tipped to be honest,” said St. Raymond’s coach Oliver Antigua on the Royals playing without their point guard. “They’re a very deep team… any team that loses a guy to injury has to step up. I mean, we had our starting point guard out for two games and no one cared about that. They’re one of the best teams in our league and tonight they got a lot of contributions from a lot of other guys.”
