It’s hard to move the Gaels out of the top spot this week. Three of their four losses were by a run in low-scoring games and the other was a 5-3 defeat to St. John the Baptist. This is still the best set of arms in the region. |
|
2 | John Jay-EF | 4-0 | 3 |
The Patriots put up at least 10 runs in all four of their games and are rolling. They’ll be tested with Suffern and Beacon coming up. |
|
3 | Mamaroneck | 5-2 | 4 |
Both of the Tigers losses so far have come to teams in Florida. This could prove to be one of the most dynamic lineups in Section 1. |
|
4 | Ketcham | 2-2 | 5 |
A couple of one-run losses to John Jay-CR and Kennedy is nothing to be too worried about this early on. The defending champs are going to be difficult to beat when it really counts. |
|
5 | Fox Lane | 1-1 | 2 |
The first real test for the Foxes was a bit of a letdown as they got out-hit by Ketcham and lost. But this team needs time for its pitching to mesh. It will. |
|
6 | Briarcliff | 5-0 | 8 |
Could the best lineup in the region really be a Class B team? The Bears are making their case. They can hit 1 through 9. |
|
7 | Arlington | 4-2 | 6 |
It’s been a little bit of erratic start for the Admirals. But when their pitching is on, they’re going to be very difficult to beat. |
|
8 | Marlboro | 5-0 | NR |
Watch out for the Dukes, who have been sharp in all facets to start the year. They just knocked off defending Class A champs Saugerties and may be the conference’s best team in Section 9. |
| 9 | Mahopac | 5-0-1 | NR |
The Indians have come out of the gates strong, highlighted by wins over John Jay-CR and Lakeland. | |
|
10 | Clarkstown South | 3-0 | NR |
Solid start for the Vikings, who have a potent lineup and deep pitching. They could be a sleeper in Class AA |
