Bridge Academy art program continues to reach new heights
The art program at The Bridge Academy has been steadily growing for the past six years. Initially, only a few students were able to take art classes at Bridge Academy. The art teacher, Ms. Phiri had no set classroom and moved around on a cart. Through the support of the school director, Mr. Dutton, and with assistance from Westport Art Center, the MSG Varsity school connection programs and individual donors the art program has blossomed.
The art department now has a set room with new shelving and lots of supplies. The staff now works full time and almost every student in the school takes art class every year.
The Bridge Academy is a public charter school located on the east side of Bridgeport, CT. The students at The Bridge Academy get in through a public lottery and through the curriculum emerge prepared for college.
