    PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Mike Odenwaelder (Wamogo, P/SS, Sr.): An All-Stater in three sports, Odenwaelder wrapped up his brilliant career by posting video game-like stats in multiple categories. Odenwaelder led the state with 39 RBI and 50 hits, was second with seven home runs and finished third with an .885 slugging percentage. He also scored 33 runs. Not to be outdone on the mound, Odenwaelder won a state-best nine games, was third with 80 strikeouts and pitched to a 2.14 ERA in leading the Warriors to their first Berkshire League title since 1962 and the CIAC Class S semifinals.
    FIRST TEAM
    Pitchers
Alex Farina (New Canaan, Sr.): The right-hander tied for the state high with nine wins, led the FCIAC with 0.72 ERA and struck out 89 with just 11 walks in 82 innings pitched. Farina, named to the All-State team, pitched a three-hit shutout in the Rams’ 4-0 win over RHAM in the CIAC Class L quarterfinals.
Quinn Irwin (St. Joseph, Sr.): The left-hander went 8-0 with an ERA of less than 1.50, and hurled a five-hit shutout in the Cadets’ second-round victory over Plainville in the Class M tournament. Irwin was selected All-State.
    Catcher
Ted Gravel (Wamogo, Sr.): The All-State backstop played a starring role in the Warriors’ 22-win season, batting .382 with an on-base percentage of .477. Gravel also drove in 25 runs, scored 34 runs and had a fielding percentage of .989.
    Infielders
Bryan Daniello (McMahon, Jr.): A shortstop/pitcher, Daniello was voted the FCIAC Player of the Year, and it was easy to see why. He batted .432 with an on-base percentage of .543, had 16 RBI, scored 25 runs and hit three homers. The right-hander also went 6-4 with an ERA of 1.50, completed four games and saved two others.
Brandon Docimo (Stamford, Sr.): Named first-team All-FCIAC, Docimo finished second in the state with .919 slugging percentage to go along with a .532 batting average. Also had 22 RBI and 16 runs scored.
Tyler Matakevich (St. Joseph, Sr.): A two-time All-State linebacker who helped lead the Cadets to the Class S championship in the fall, Matakevich was named All-State in his spring sport as well. He batted .479 with 25 RBI, 30 runs and 21 stolen bases as St. Joe’s captured the FCIAC regular-season title.
Mike Scott (Staples, Sr.): The second baseman had big shoes to fill taking over for FCIAC Player of the Year Jack Hennessy, but the Wreckers didn’t miss a beat as Scott batted nearly .500 en route to All-State honors.
Vin Siena (Amity, Jr.): The All-State shortstop is considered one of the best all-around players in Connecticut. Siena, who has started since his freshman year, was one of 18 Connecticut Junior Select All-Stars and has several Division I programs interested in his skills.
    Outfielders
Chris DelDebbio (Danbury, Jr.): Equally adept with his bat, glove and arm, DelDebbio hit .477 en route to first-team All-FCIAC honors and helped lead the Hatters to the league finals for the first time since 2003.
Matt Ederle (Norwalk, Jr.): Named first-team All-FCIAC after leading the Bears with a .510 batting average and 28 RBI, Ederle also shined at the CHSCA Junior Select All-Star Game with a home run and RBI double.
Alex Guadalupe (St. Joseph, Jr.): Another first-team All-FCIAC selection, Guadalupe batted .463 in the regular season with 26 RBI and three home runs.
    COACH OF THE YEAR
Jack McFarland, Staples: The seventh-year coach guided the Wreckers to their third FCIAC championship in four years.
    SECOND TEAM
Pitchers: E.J. Ashworth (Amity, Sr.); Brian Caselli (Stratford, Jr.); James Cooksey (Norwalk, Sr.); Rob Gau (Staples, Sr.).
Catchers: Joe Burns (St. Joseph, Jr.); Garrett Perusse (Torrington, Sr.).
Infielders: Charlie Ameer (Weston, Soph.); Shawn Cariglio (Foran, Jr.); Tyler Jacobs (Staples, Sr.); Colin McCarthy (Staples, Sr.); Pat Murphy (Trinity Catholic, Sr.); Anthony Redamonti (Fairfield Prep, Sr.).
Outfielders: Michael Garcia (Warde, Sr.); Ben Lipper (Staples, Sr.); Brian Speer (Amity, Sr.).
