Staples senior James Frusciante has been named the MSG Varsity's FCIAC Player of the Week for Sept. 10-15 by a panel of athletic directors and MSG Varsity reporters. Frusciante had three touchdowns as the Wreckers scored 42 points in the second half and defeated the St. Joseph Cadets, 49-28, in last Friday’s season opener. Frusciante scored on a 76-yard punt return, and also caught touchdown passes of 14 and 59 yards from quarterback Jack Massie. Frusciante finished with eight catches for 122 yards.
What's your biggest athletic goal for 2012-13?
Frusciante: "To get back to the FCIAC and state finals. But really we're just focused on the game that week."
Who is your favorite teammate and why?
Frusciante: "I'd have to say the whole group of seniors because of camaraderie we have."
What's the best piece of advice you've received?
Frusciante: "From our coaching staff it's to respect the process, and go into every practice with the idea of getting better."
Which athlete is your biggest influence?
Frusciante: "Victor Cruz of the Giants. I really like his story, and how he got to the NFL."
What's your proudest accomplishment away from the game?
Frusciante: "One thing I'm really proud of is becoming a captaining in all three sports (football, basketball and baseball)."
