    Dutchess County tourney rundown

    Girls and boys basketball teams from across Dutchess County will compete in their respective tournaments this week. The boys will play in the Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association Holiday Tournament at Our Lady of Lourdes, while the girls will play in the Dutchess County Holiday Classic at Millbrook and Spackenkill.

    In the championship of the Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association Holiday Tournament, Gio Rodriguez and teammate Brian Brocker both had a career-high 24 points each to lead Arlington. Rodriguez earned tournament MVP honors. Brothers Marquise and Jarell Brown had 23 points apiece for Beacon.

    In the consolation of the Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association Holiday Tournament, Andrew Michos scored a career-high 25 points in just two-and-a-half quarters to pace Spackenkill.

    In the semis of the Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association Holiday Tournament, Arlington had a terrific balanced scoring attack, getting 17 points from Brian Brocker, 16 from Mike Scocozza and 14 from Gio Rodriguez. The Admirals made 13 three-pointers, compared to four for the Spartans. Three of those four triples came from Andrew Michos, who kept Spackenkill in it as long as he could with 12 points.

    In the semis of the Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association Holiday Tournament, senior Jarell Brown had a game-high 18 points to lead four Beacon players in double figures. Ray Silva had 14 points, Marquise Brown – Jarell’s brother – had 12, and Damani Guscott had 11. Xavier Boyd paced Ketcham with 15 points on five three-pointers.

    Nick Porter paced Lourdes with a game-high 23 points — 16 of them coming on offensive rebounds as he asserted himself and continually established position in the paint all night. Felix Riascos and Aaron Strother both had eight points for FDR.

    In the first round of the Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association Holiday Tournament, Spackenkill’s Jimmy Kruk scored eight of his 21 points in the first and second overtime periods, including a driving layup with just under two minutes left in the second OT that put the Spartans up 71-68 and proved to be the winning points. Felix Riascos paced FDR with a team-high 21 points. The Spartans improved 4-0 overall, while the Presidents dropped to 2-2.

    In the first round of the Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association Holiday Tournament, John Gonzalez led a balanced Beacon effort with nine points, while Nick Segarra had 11 points for John Jay-EF The Bulldogs are now 4-1 overall and will play Ketcham in the second round of the tourney on Wednesday night, back at OLL’s gym. Ketcham drew a first-round bye in the seven-team tournament.

    In the first round of the Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association Holiday Tournament, Gio Rodriguez led the Admirals (4-2) with 15 points, and Mike Scocozza added 12. Scocozza scored on a tip-in offensive rebound that gave Arlington its first lead of the night at 49-48 with 33.2 seconds left and then hit a pair of free throws to ice the game with 13.5 seconds remaining. Kyle Santoro and Nick Porter scored 11 points apiece to pace Lourdes.
