Class A boys championship
Tappan Zee 50, Poughkeepsie 45
The best title game of Championship week was the final one. Unbeaten top seed Tappan Zee held off No. 11 Poughkeepsie down the stretch with a balanced effort. Brian McLaughlin led the way with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Billy O'Shea (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Pat Peterson (11 points, 10 rebounds) each had double-doubles. Eric Casey started in place of Brendan Donahue and added eight points and three blocks for the Dutchmen.
Poughkeepsie came from ten points down in the first half behind D'Andre Smith (14 points) to tie it during the third quarter, but Tappan Zee continued to make the tough plays it had all season including a big steal by point guard Joe Letizia.
Tappan Zee won its second Section 1 Class A championship in three seasons.
Tappan Zee advances to the state tournament to face Seton Catholic of Section 4.

Class A girls championship
Pearl River 39, Tappan Zee 33
Pearl River outscored rival Tappan Zee 18-10 in the second half to win its second Section 1 Class A championship. Pearl River overcame a tough shooting night using its defense. The Pirates swiped 21 steals in the game.
Christa Scognamigio, the tournament MVP, finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and five steals. Allison Cook hit three 3-pointers and added 15 points. Missy Scognamiglio had seven steals in the win.
Tappan Zee took its only lead of the game on a buzzer-beating layup before halftime, but Pearl River quickly regained the lead to start the third quarter. Erica Richard scored 12 points for the Lady Dutchmen. Kristen McLaughlin added four points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Both made the all-tournament team.
Pearl River plays Tuesday at Johnson City High School in the Binghamton area against the Section 4 winner.

Class AA girls championship
Ossining 79, Our Lady of Lourdes 48
In a game that started much differently than the semifinal victory, Ossining results were the same. The Pride started the game 1-for-9 from behind the 3-point line, but still managed to hit 11 in the game.
In the third quarter, junior Saniya Chong converted a four-point play to give her 31 points in the game and 2,000 for her career. She added eight assists and five rebounds.
Freshman Destini Walker scored 17 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. She added three steals and a block.
Lourdes' Emily Ferrerri scored 18 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out five assists in the loss.
Ossining receives a bye in the state tournament and will face the winner of Section 9 and Section 4 on Friday at Pace University.

Class AA boys championship
Mount Vernon 77, Mahopac 51
No. 1 Mount Vernon easily won its seventh straight Section 1 Class AA championship over No. 3 Mahopac on Saturday afternoon at the Westchester County Center. The Knights forced nine first quarter turnovers en route to a 21-7 lead after the first quarter. Mount Vernon continued to build its lead and led by as many as 42 points at the end of the third quarter.
It's the second straight season Mount Vernon beat Mahopac in the County Center. Mount Vernon beat Mahopac in last year's semifinal game.
Randy Stephens had 19 points and five assists, Isaiah Cousins added 11 points and three assists, and Jarell Marshall finished with 12 points and five assists.
Mahopac's Brendan Hynes finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in the loss.
The championship was Mount Vernon's 29th overall Section 1 title. The Knights will face the winner of Binghamton (Section 4) and Middletown (Section 9) at Pace University on Friday.

Class B girls championship
Irvington 68, Blind Brook 33
Irvington won its third straight Section 1 Class B championship with another easy victory in the Westchester County Center. Lexi Martins scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Point guard Brittni Lai added 19 points and seven steals. Senior Marley Giddins added eight points, five rebounds, and two blocks for Irvington.
Blind Brook, which has zero seniors on the team, was led by Ali Silfen's 12 points.
Irvington will play Section 9 champion, Highland, in the state tournament next week. The Bulldogs are attempting to win its third straight state championship and second federation championship in three years.

Class B boys championship
Albertus Magnus 66, Dobbs Ferry 48
At the Westchester County Center, No. 2 Albertus Magnus easily handled No. 1 Dobbs Ferry in the Section 1 Class B championship. It's the second straight season the Falcons beat Dobbs Ferry in the title game.
Jack Sullivan was perfect from behind the arc with three 3-pointers. He finished with a game-high 22 points. Seniors Pat McGuinness (14 points, four rebounds, six assists) and Tyler Sayre (12 points, nine rebounds) were stellar in the victory.
Dobbs Ferry played without super sophomore Eric Paschall, but the hot shooting of Albertus Magnus seemed too good to overcome anyway. The Falcons shot well over 50% in both games of the final four and hit nine 3-pointers overall.
Dobbs Ferry was led by Thomas Fleming's 13 points. Eddie Ritch added 12 points in the loss.
Albertus Magnus heads to the state tournament for another rematch, this time with Section 9-champion Burke Catholic. The reigning state champions ended Albertus Magnus' season a year ago. They will tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Mount St. Mary College on Wednesday.

Class C boys championship
Tuckahoe 80, Children's Village 58
The Tigers jumped out to a 43-18 halftime lead and coasted to victory over Children's Village in the Section 1 Class C championship game. Sky Williams scored 27 points, and Justin Nolan added 25 points and 10 rebounds for Tuckahoe.
Children's Village played exceptionally well in the second half and outscored Tuckahoe in each of the final two quarters behind 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists from Anthony Trotter. Roger Owens and Kareem Padgett each added 10 points in a balanced effort.
Tuckahoe won its second consecutive gold ball and 14th overall. The Tigers advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C state tournament and will face Section 9-champion Pine Plains. Tuckahoe defeated Pine Plains in the state tournament a season ago.

Class C girls championship
Alexander Hamilton 60, Keio Academy 24
In the Section 1 Class C championship game, Alexander Hamilton imposed its will defensively on an overmatched Keio squad with 27 steals to win its first Section 1 championship since 1988. Forward Maia Hood, the Class C tournament's Most Valuable Player, scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win. Ayanna Behagen swiped eight steals (giving her 19 in two games at the County Center), scored 12 points and dished five assists for the Red Raiders.
Hamilton led 44-12 at halftime and coasted to victory in the second half. Keio's Sae Toyomura scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Hamilton advances to the NYSPHSAA Class C state tournament on Wednesday, March 7 back at the Westchester County Center. The Red Raiders will face Coleman Catholic, the Section 9 Class C champion.
