Outfoxed: Fox Lane earns comback victory over Rye
RYE, NY — Fox Lane took the field with all four of its key players — Kailey O'Hagen, Sammy Jo Tracy, Kate Burbank and Sydney Stern — for the first time all season on Friday at Rye High School. The chemistry amongst them was clear immediately as the Foxes scored twice within the opening two minutes en route to an 11-9 victory.
The Garnets answered with five consecutive goals of their own. Emma Brinkman, Tori Virtue and Scarlet Sulliman tallied two apiece to help the Garnets grab a 6-4 lead at the break.
The second half left off right where the first started, as both teams traded six goals within three minutes. With Rye leading 9-7, Fox Lane tallied four straight to complete the comeback and earn the win. O'Hagen, who tallied a game-high five goals, evened it at 9-9. Burbank scored just 23 seconds later, registering the eventual game winner.
The Foxes improve to 5-2 overall and face Horace Greeley next on Wednesday. Rye drops to 4-1 overall and will travel to Hackley on Tuesday.
