The key to this years team is consistent team defense and rebounding. Fox Lane has solid senior leadership as this group has been playing together since elementary school. If we can control tempo and limit turnovers the Foxes could have a good season.”

    John Jay-East Fishkill Patriots
    Coach:
    Darrell Flynn

Rising stars: Tyler Kardas and Blake Kozloski
Coach's forecast: We are going to compete for 32 minutes. We have great senior leadership that will lead the way. One of our team goals is to learn and grow together. We have had a short time together but we are making tremendous strides because of our team's will to get better each day.

    Mahopac Indians
    Coach:
    Kevin Downes
2010-2011 record: 17-4(Lost to Mount Vernon in Class AA semifinals)
Impact players: Zack Ankier (6-4) Sr F; Dan Neilis (6-4) F/C Sr.; James Schiera (5-11) G, Sr, Marc Vaccaro (6-0) G. Sr.
Rising stars: Brendan Hynes (6-3) Jr. G, Dan Tully (6-3) Jr. G, Anthony Lenahan, (6-1) Jr. G, Ryan Simone (6-4) Soph. F, Michael Simone (6-4) Jr. F, John Vitkus, 6-6 Jr. C
Coach’s forecast: “If we can defend and rebound and our young players can limit turnovers I think we can have a successful season. We lost nine players to graduation but have some talented returners and talented newcomers. We will rely heavily on Zack Ankier and the other seniors to fill in for what was lost to graduation and help our young players adjust to new roles. How quickly our newcomers adjust will determine who successful we can be. Zack Ankier was an all league performer and a major contributor in helping the Indians win the league title last season. Marc Vaccaro, Dan Neilis and James Schiera also played good minutes and last season and were big contributors in their own right on a heavily dominated senior team.”

    Mamaroneck Tigers
    Coach:
    Tyrone Carver Jr. (7th Season)
    2010-11 record: 11-9
2011 playoffs: Defeated John Jay CR in Outbracket round of Class AA playoffs. Lost to Mt. Vernon in 1st Round of Class AA playoffs
Impact players: Matt Mezansky (5-11), Sr., G; Alex Lanni (6-4), Jr., C; Gerry McMullin (6-0), Sr., G; Will Parkinson (6-3), Sr., F; Ben Kalish (6-3), So., F; Ryan Mueller (6-2), Sr., G.

Coach’s forecast: “The Tigers are returning two starters from last year’s team in Mezansky and Lanni. Mezansky is a three-year starter and two-time All-Section player, and Lanni has started every game since joining the team as a freshmen. Although we play in the toughest league in the state I’m looking forward to see how this season pans out because we do have some nice pieces. I expect Orgielewicz and Cadden to play key roles if we are to be successful. I expect to be led by our captains and senior leadership, we only have 4 seniors. I think this team has the chance to be improved this season. We have a much deeper team than last year. The pieces around Mezansky and Lanni must produce in order for us to make a run this season. Mezansky averaged 15 points per game and six assists; Lanni averaged 10 points and nine rebounds per game last season, he missed the last nine games of the season due to a fractured foot.

    Mount Vernon Knights
    Coach:
    Bob Cimmino
2010-11 record: 23-5, Class AA state and Federation champs
Impact players: Isaiah Cousins (6-4), Sr., G; Randy Stephens (6-5), Sr., F, Jerrel Marshall (6-5), Sr., F, Joshua Doughty (5-10), Jr., G, Quadere Lovell (6-0), Sr., G.
Rising stars: Givvion Jones (6-3), Sr., F; Jamal Lewis (6-1), Jr., F; William Robinson (6-4), Sr., F.
Coach's forecast: The region's premier program enters the season with high expectations after capturing the state and Federation crowns last season. With standout Jabarie Hinds gone (West Virginia), the Knights will likely be a more balanced scoring team. Doughty takes over as the point guard as Mount Vernon will retain its uptempo, defensive-minded style. The Knights are looking to win their seventh straight Section 1 title.

    New Rochelle Huguenots
    Coach:
    Billy Murphy (9th Season)
2010-2011 Record: 16-5 (Lost to Poughkeepsie in AA semifinal)
Impact Players: Chris Elefante (5’10), Sr., G; Malik Burts (6’0) Sr., G/F; KC Nwosu (6’5), Sr., F; Joe Clarke (6’3), Jr., G/F; Onye Onwukanjo (6’1), Jr., F; Terrence Holden (6’3), Jr., F
Rising Stars: Derek Dorn (5’10), So., G; Justin Aleyne (6’2), Jr., F
Coach’s Forecast: “This year’s team has the right energy and attitude to compete with any team. We’re inexperienced and have no great size, but the kids all trust and believe in one another and they are the type team that will get better each and every day. We have a chance to play with opponents that may be better on paper. Watch as this team knocks off some great ball clubs.”

    North Rockland Red Raiders
    Coach:
    Chris Roff (22th season)
2010-11 record: 16-2 (Lost in Class AA quarterfinals)
Impact players: Alex Ramirez (5-9), jr., g; Jarret Hilton(6-3), Sr., F; Malvin Rosario(6-2), jr., F; Armando Castillo (5-9), Sr., G; Carlson Brebnor (6-5), Sr., C.Tyrell Price (6-0) Sr. G Socrate Cadicho (6-2) Sr
Rising stars: Elijah Tillman (6-5), Jr., Omar Idolor (6-3), Jr., F; Jammell Lockhart (6-0), Jr., G; Charles Nardone (6-1), Jr., G/F Roger Harris (6-4) F/C Jr. Malik Payne (6-0) Jr Rashon Johnson (5-10) Sr.
Coach’s forecast: The strengths will be team chemistry and the biggest weakness will be North Rockland’s youth. They graduated standouts Shane Martinez and Kareighn Joseph, and Kyle Menard transferred.

    Scarsdale Raiders
    Coach:
    Jon Feld (8th season)
    2010-11 record: 3-15
Impact players: Jon Miller (5'11), Sr., G; Andrew Crean (6-5), Sr., F/C; Robert
Plummer (5'11), Jr., G; Jack Hewitt (6-6), Jr., G; Aleks Larsen (6-3), Sr.,
    G/F. Alex Squadron, (5'10") G;Josh Papandreadis (6'2") G/F; Greg Scacchi (6'3") G/F; Jeff Schwartz (6'2") F/C
Rising stars: Jon Cohen (5'11), Jr., G; Brad Fiedler (5'10"), Jr., G; Peter Simon (6'4"), JR., F/C; Tyler Nathan (5'11"), Jr., G; Dylan LoBue (6'2") Jr. F; Elton Durgaj (6'3") Sr. F; Jordan Elkins (6'0") Sr. G, Max Kessler (6'0") Sr. G
Coach’s forecast: Chemistry, size up front, experience, and shooting will be the strengths. The Raiders top seven all saw significant minutes last year, returning three starters, and that experience should help. It is probably the most athletic Scarsdale team since its County Center run four years ago. Based on last year's season, the expectations may not be high from the outside, but internally, the team has high aspirations. Playing in one of the most difficult leagues in New York, hosting Fox Lane, Ossining and Woodlands in their holiday tournament, and traveling up to the Brewster Holiday Tournament, the Raiders face a challenging schedule once again.

    Suffern Mounties
    Coach
    : George Kunzmann (3rd season)
2010-2011 Record: 12-7 (Lost in overtime to White Plains in first round)
Impact players: Rich Ibsen (6'4") Forward, Sr., Jason Steinman (5'10") Guard, Sr., Edan Guter (5'10") Guard, Sr., Jamaal Celestin (6'4") Forward, Sr., Jon Munitz (6'0") Forward, Sr., Kyle Blair (5'11") Guard, Sr.
Rising stars: Rashaad Celestin (6'4") Forward, Jr., Ethan Osborne (6'3") Forward, Sr., Chris Jefferson (5'11") Guard, Soph, Tyler McDine (5'10") Guard, Soph., Javin Williams (5'7") Guard, Freshmen, Sean Crotty (5'11") Guard, Jr., Luc Aviles (5'10") Guard, Jr.
Coaches forecast: “If we defend well and attack the offensive boards aggressively we will be in every game.” The strengths will be low-post play and rebounding. The weaknesses are experience. Only 1 player played significant minutes last year.

    White Plains Tigers
    Coach:
    Spencer Mayfield (19th season)
2010-11 Record: 12-8 (lost to Poughkeepsie in second round)
    Impact players: Seniors Akeem Williams 6-3 F, Anthony Williams 6-3 F, Ryan Brookls 5-8 G, Mike Scotman 6-0 G/F, Jake Sands 5-8 G,
    Rising stars: Juniors Kyle Adams 6-3 F, Robert Lorden 6-3 F, Nate Hudson 6-5 C, Aarron Daughtrey 5-9 G, Travis Jackson 5-11G/F, Devon Thomas 5-11 G,
Sophmore Marshon Morris 5-11 G, Freshman Salim Mohammed 6-4 C,
Coach’s forecast: “The team will be much better as season goes along as the underclassmen become more familiar with our defensive and offensive systems
and the football players catch up after missing the first nine practices. We have the potential to a very good defensive pressure team and a solid offense team. We must get solid play from underclassmen to support a solid group of seniors. Will need to replace the big shot making abilty of Lawrence Pope. Returning All-league players Akeem Williams and Ryan Brooks will take on greater scoring rolls this year and Jake Sands leadership will be key. Players to watch Anthony Williams and Kyle Adams could have big impacts the season. Mike Scotman’s versitility and experience will help younger players develop and improve.”

    Yorktown Huskers
    Coach:
    Steve Veteri (12 season)
    2010-11 record: 11-8
Impact player: Chris Schmitz 6'5 Jr., G/F; Aidan Fullerton 6'5 Sr., F; Conor Gately 6'0 Sr., G; Andrew Rohle 6'1 Sr., F: Tyler Schlomann 6'2 Sr., G/F; Bryan Horgan 5'10 Jr., G/F, Joe Nobilione 5'10 Sr., G/F.
Rising stars: Anthony Coutsouros 6'4 Soph., F; Billy Arnold 6'0 Jr., G/F: Andres Perez 6'0 Jr., G/F; Giuseppe Spiniello 5'11 Jr., G/F; Stephen DiMaria 5'11 Jr., G/F, Nick Camp 6'1 Sr., F: Ryan Duff 5'6 Soph., PG
Coach’s forecast: “After losing three starting from last years team, we are looking like a more balanced and bigger team this year. Our bench is deeper and we will be able to show different looks this year, hopefully being able to keep teams with difficult matchups.”
