Blind Brook Trojans
Coach: Mike Welsh (7th season)
2010-2011 Record: 17-2 (Lost in Class B Quarterfinals)
Impact Players: Antoine Saliba 6'4 Sr. F, Jack Jamilkowski 6'3 Sr. F, Jordan Wurtzel 6'2 Sr. F, Jeff Babat 5'8 Sr. G, Jamie Zaslav 6'2 Sr. F, Sam Adler 5'8 Jr. G, Brennan Schaenmann 6'7 Jr. C, Ben Seguljic 6'3 Jr. F
Rising Stars: Jeff Visoky 5'8 So. G, Eric Handelman 6'4 Jr. F, Willie Berk 5'7 Jr. G, Tyler Hofmann 5'8 Jr. G, Max Holm 6'0 Sr. G
Coach's forecast: “We are looking to get outstanding leadership from our three returning starters. Saliba (All-Section), Adler (All-Conference) and Jamilkowski will have to carry the load early on, while some of our newcomers are making the transition to varsity basketball. A very difficult non-league schedule should have us prepared for the post-season."
Croton-Harmon Tigers
Coach: William Thom (27th Season)
2010-11 Record: 9-11, lost to Hastings in Class B quarterfinals
Impact players: Brady Aarons (6’5) Senior, Sean Downey (6’2”) Senior, Alex Gilman (5’10”) Senior, Tyler Gilman (6’0”) Senior, Sean O’Connell (6’2”) Senior, Robert Simmons (6’3”) Senior, Ian Thom (6’0”) Junior, Aaron Thompson (5’10”) Senior, Wes Turner (6’3”) Senior
Rising stars: Ben Goldberg (5’9”) Junior, Jason Howald (5’11”) Sophomore, Peter Miller (6’2”) Sophomore, Brian Oliver (6’2”) Senior
Coach's Forcast: The Tigers have worked hard to date. They hope to improve during the 2011-12 campaign and improve on last years results. The Tigers are a veteran team with lots of experience, led by two of their top three scores from the previous season (Thom and Turner). The Tigers will play in the Challenge Game at the Slam Dunk Tournament at Westchester County Center on December 26th vs. Yonkers. Croton-Harmon will host the Westchester County Basketball Coaches Association Coaches vs. Cancer event on January 27, 2012.
Dobbs Ferry Eagles
Coach: Scott Patrillo (7th Season)
2010 -2011 Record: 17-5 (Lost in Class B sectional finals)
Impact Players: Eddie Ritch 5’8” Sr. G; Spencer Avalos 5’10” Sr. G; John Yozzo-Scaperrotta 6’1” Sr. F; Matt Latainer 6’3” Sr. G/F; Eric Paschall 6’4” So. G/F; Thomas Fleming 6’4” Sr. G/F; Danny Crowe 6’2” Sr. F.
Rising Stars: Ivan Miskovic 6’5” Sr. C; Darien Bica 5’10” Sr. F; Nick Kost 6’1” Jr. F.
Coach’s Forecast: “We return a veteran team that provides us great depth and versatility. The team is working hard in practice and now that we have everyone back from the incredible football run we can start to prepare for the season and a tough early test against Pelham. The team chemistry is there and practices have been intense. These guys know what they need to do to be successful and understand from last season what it takes to get back to where they were. If we can limit our turnovers and play tough defense without fouling a good season is within reach.”
Hastings Yellow Jackets
Coach: Ezra Elliott (1st season)
2010-11 record: 12-9, Lost in Class B semifinals
Impact Players: Zach Grossman(6-1), Sr., F; Dillon Healy (6-2), Sr., G; Josh Kolbert (6-4), Sr., C; Mike Weiner(5-11), Sr., G; Brian Schoen (5-8), Sr., G.; Joe Tino (6-3), Jr., F.
Rising Stars: Matt Adipietro (5-11), Sr., G; James Guiney (5-11), Sr., G; Rob Hevia (6-0), So., G; Jeb Polstein (6-4), Jr., C.; Qu'ran Robinson (6-1), Jr., F; Francesco Scioscia (6-1), So., G; James Williams (5-11), Sr., G.
Coach’s forecast: “We lost seven seniors, 8-year coach Dennis Hurlie, and 8th-grade sixth man Tom Capuano to Iona Prep, so there will be a lot of new faces. The bar was set pretty high by last year's squad, beating Croton in the first round of sectionals, upsetting No. 1 seed Blind Brook on the road, before falling to league rival Dobbs Ferry at the County Center. Tino comes back for his third season on the varsity and we will look to help him with the scoring load from a number of different players each game. If we can defend and rebound while taking care of the ball we can finish in the top half of the League.”
Irvington Bulldogs
Coach: Mike Auerbach (2nd Season)
2010-11 record: 14-7 (lost in Class B semifinals)
Impact players: Ryan O’Donnell 5’10” Jr. G, Jon Goldreich 6’1” So. G, Dan Costa 6’2” Sr. F.
Rising stars: Toby Boff 6’2” Jr. F, Cole Kibel 6’2” Jr. F, Beau Muise 6’3” Jr. F/C, Dillon D’Arrigo 5’10” Jr. G, Kevin Tierney 6’2” Fr. F.
Coach's quote: “We graduated 11 players off of last year’s County Center team, so we’re looking to rebuild around a good core of young players. A lot of guys have shown the ability to contribute immediately in the first few weeks of practice and scrimmages. O’Donnell returns as our most experienced player, having started most of the season last year as a sophomore. Goldreich is also in position to step up as a big contributor for this team, having played some as a freshman last year.”
Pleasantville Panthers
Coach: Chris Welsh (1st season)
Impact players: Glen Robinson, Senior F; Greg Nicolai, Senior G; Charlie Montgomery, Junior F; Jack Eisenberg, Junior G; Nick Greto, Junior F
Coach’s forecast: “We're excited about the upcoming season. We return 8 players with varsity experience, who have come back stronger than last year. Our skills are improving, but we will rely on our intensity at the defensive end of the floor to win games. We look for a tough league schedule to have us ready for post-season play.”
Rye Neck Panthers
Coach: John Aguilar (third season)
2010-2011 record: 6-12
Impact players: Brendan Crowley, 6'2" G, Sr; Connor O'Shea, 6'1" G, Sr; Jesse Sacks-Hoppenfeld, 6'0" G/F, Sr; Josh Barach, 6'3" F, Jr; Will Kebbe, 6'3" F/C, Jr; Mike DeCicco, 5'8"G, Jr; Jibbrael McField, 5'11" F, Jr; Matt Franks, 6'4" F/C, So
Rising stars: Ryan Aquino, 6'1" G, So., Chris Cascione, 6'0" G, So; Chris Pennell, 5'8" G, So; Vinny Salanitro, 5'8" G, Sr; Nick Cannon, 5'10" G, Sr
Coach’s forecast: “In my third year coaching at Rye Neck, this will be the first year I have players returning other than Brendan Crowley. The players worked extremely hard in the offseason and I think the experience they got playing at the varsity level for the first time last year will be a huge factor in our success for this year. Crowley and Franks were both All-League players last year and will be the focal point of our team.”
Valhalla Vikings
Coach: Dave Greiner (10th year, 6th at Valhalla)
2010-11 record: 15-5 (lost to Dobbs Ferry in Class B quarterfinals)
Impact players: Terrance Tribble 6'2, Jr. F, Joe Zimmerman 5'4 Sr. G
Rising stars: Joe Lvecchio 5'9 Jr. G, Dan LoGuidice 6'1 Sr. F, Mark Kinnally 6'4 Soph. F, Miro Ronac 5'9 Soph, G
Coach’s forecast: “With the graduation of the entire starting five, varsity experience is a lacking. Tribble had considerable playing time last year and Lovecchio is as good an athlete as there is in Class B. We want to be playing our best ball come February, hopefully we can sneak up on some teams and surprise some people.”
