Cornwall advanced to the state semifinals on Saturday in Binghamton. Max Bruckner (8-1) struck out nine and allowed four earned runs in six innings for Harrison, which ends the year 20-5.

Class B

Briarcliff 13, Babylon 5

The Bears rallied for 12 runs in the top of the sixth inning, stormnig back from a 4-0 deficit, to stun Babylon in a regional final matchup at East Hampton High School. Paul Henshaw hit a three-run double to key the rally as Briarcliff brought 16 batters to the plate in the inning. Asa Barken added a two-run triple, and Ryan Huegel added an RBI double. The Bears advanced to the state final four for the second year in a row. They'll take on Section 2 champion Albany Academy in Saturday's semifinal in Binghamton.

Sydney Holtz scattered eight hits over seven innings and only allowed one run as Valhalla won its first ever state playoff game. The Vikings lost in the regional semifinals the last three seasons.

Maddie DeMilio went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a homerun to lead the Vikings.

Valhalla jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an error and an RBI-single from Brandi Coon.

Highland (11-11) finished a great playoff run after a cinderella run to the Section 9 title. Kellie Panek finished 3-for-3 with a double and Highland's lone run.

Valhalla 8, Babylon 6

Hours after winning its first state playoff game in school history, Valhalla punched its first ticket to the NYSPHSAA final four.

The Vikings jumped on previously-unbeaten Babylon, the Long Island champions, with five runs in the first two innings before holding on for the victory.

Maddie DeMilio crushed a first-inning homerun and finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Brandi Coon hit an RBI-triple, and Jade Fumarelli added two RBI and a double.

Fumarelli's biggest contribution came on the defensive end with three fantastic plays. The senior center fielder robbed a potential 3-run homerun, threw a runner out at the plate, and made a full running catch in the gap to take away a key hit.

Jenna Saldi chipped in with two hits including a double and had an RBI. Kaylie Dymek also had two RBI for Valhalla.
