Isaiah Barnes will be sporting orange and black come next fall.

Freeport's star quarterback announced he has verbally committed to Princeton University Wednesday night on the Long Island edition of the High School SportsDesk.

Barnes, who sat down with Carl Reuter on the Desk to announce his decision, was named the recipient of the 2011 Snyder Award, which is given to the most outstanding quarterback in Nassau County.

The multifaceted senior led Freeport to a 9-2 record in 2011 only to fall to East Meadow, 34-33 in a thrilling Nassau County Conference I final in which he passed for 320 yards and four touchdowns on an injured ankle.

Overall the 6-foot-3, 195-pound senior passed for 1,913 for 21 touchdowns, and also ran for 1,257 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging more than 7 yards per carry.

Barnes first made headlines as a junior on what was a record-setting day at the 2010 Class I Long Island Championship in a 62-35 win over William Floyd HS in which he set a LIC record, rushing for 6 TDs, and passing for one more for seven overall touchdowns.
