    Moran started at quarterback but his biggest contribution came at wide receiver when he hauled in a 46-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Fredericks with 3:48 remaining to key the Golden Tornadoes' 21-15 comeback win over Bethpage in a Nassau Conference III opener.

    Rashad Tucker leads Freeport to win

    Freeport quarterback Rashad Tucker hit every point on the compass Friday night, dashing and darting north and south to slip out of tacklers' grasps and racing east to west, sideline to sideline in a breathtaking display of elusiveness. The slender sophomore quarterback wound up pointing the host Red Devils in the right direction with his running and passing in a 36-26 victory over Oceanside in a Nassau I opener before a crowd of more than 1,200.

    Goal-line stand saves Farmingdale in win

    The Dalers turned back host Massapequa four times and held on for a 10-7 Nassau I victory in a season-opening game for both teams in which all the points were scored in the first half, before the heavy rain began to fall.

    LuHi football doesn't need extra motivation

    The disbandment of its conference returned Long Island Lutheran to a nomadic football existence, an independent scrambling late to fill a schedule of out-of-town teams.

    Fountis, Trent give Bellport win

    Andrew Trent snagged a 73-yard touchdown from Nick Fountis that lifted host Bellport to an 18-14 win over rival East Islip in the Clippers' return to Suffolk II football.
