Joe Clarke has gotten use to winning wherever he goes.

Clarke, fresh off a NYS football championship win, had 19 points as he led New Rochelle past the defending New York State Class A boys basketball champions Harborfields, 61-46 in the Upstate/Downstate tournament.

The New Rochelle star was named Most Outstanding Player for his efforts.

The Hugenots attacke early on the defending state champions, which had lost many stars including current Longwood University point-guar Lucas Woodhouse, from last year's squad by going up 16-8 after eight minutes of play.

New Rochelle allowed the Tornadoes to storm back in the second quarter as Harborfields cut the Hugenots lead to as little as two points in the waning minutes of the first half to a 24-22 game. However the boys from Westchester roared in the final minutes of the quarter to extend its lead to 30-22 heading into the break.

The Hugenots and Clarke padded its lead in the third quarter, outscoring the defending champions 19-13 in the third frame and finishing the quarter on a 12-5 run to take a 49-35 advantage.

Clarke and his New Rochelle's team was too much an advantage in the fourth quarter as the Hugenots held on for the 61-46 win for the upstaters.

Chris Brady had 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and five blocks, while Jon Patron had 15 points for the defending champs despite fouling out. Baker was awarded the Most Outstanding Player honors for the losing team
