Final NYC girls soccer power rankings
No. 1 St. Joseph Hill (15-1-0)
The Hilltoppers didn’t finish the season undefeated, but they’re still atop the MSG Varsity rankings because of a tight 2-1 loss to mighty St. Anthony’s in the CHSAA Class A state semifinals in South Huntington. On Sunday, Hill defeated Christ the King in the consolation game.

No. 2 Beacon (17-0-0)
Jen Angione earned a spot in Beacon lore by scoring a pair of goals in a 2-0 win against Bronx Science for the Blue Demons second consecutive PSAL Class A title. Liza Kapelus anchored a defense that pitched four straight playoff clean sheets.

No. 3 Riverdale (17-0-2)
Isabella Bertagna and Rachel Copulsky helped guide the Falcons to a second straight NYSAISAA championship, extending their unbeaten streak to 38.

No. 4 Bronx Science (15-1-0)
The Wolverines were back in the final, but couldn’t pull off the win over Beacon like they did two years ago. Still, a tremendous career for Phoebe Dawkins, Lucy Evert and the other Bronx Science seniors.

No. 5 Bayside (12-1-2)
D.J. Glazer put a scare in Bronx Science, putting the Commodores in front a PSAL Class A quarterfinal match against Bronx Science, but the Wolverines pulled out a 6-1 victory. With Glazer coming back for her senior year, Bayside should again be among the PSAL elite next year.

No. 6 Christ the King (12-3-2)
The Royals lost to Nichols (Buffalo), 6-0, in the CHSAA state semifinals and 4-0 to St. Joseph Hill in the consolation game. Still, Christ the King captured the Brooklyn/Queens title and the future looks bright.

No. 7 Francis Lewis (12-1-3)
The Patriots lone loss of the season came in the PSAL Class A semifinals, a 4-0 defeat to eventual champion Beacon. It was a tough ending to a special season for Lewis’ senior core, including midfielder Gena Koutsounadis.

No. 8 McKee/Staten Island Tech (11-1-2)
UMass-bound Jackie Bruno is one of the city’s top players, but she couldn’t lead MSIT past Francis Lewis in the PSAL Class A quarterfinals. The Seagulls seniors won the title as freshmen and twice reached the semifinals.

No. 9 Archbishop Molloy (7-6-1)
Fabian Chong’s first season as Stanners coach was a mixed bag, but the future looks bright in Briarwood, especially with Victoria Antonino and Kathleen Gribbon coming back.

Virtually everyone is back for the Terriers next year, including a talented group of freshmen who earned valuable experience this year.

No. 11 Mary Louis (9-3-2)
It was a magical season for Therese Boyle and Deidre Ray, who helped guide the Hilltoppers to within a goal of the Brooklyn/Queens title.

No. 12 Dalton (8-3-4)
Dalton never got another chance to face Riverdale again after nearly handing the Falcons their first loss during the regular season. The Tigers lost to Rye, 3-0, in the semifinals.

No. 13 Tottenville (10-2-3)
The Pirates season came to an end in the PSAL Class A quarterfinals with a 4-0 loss to eventual champion Beacon.

No. 14 Staten Island Academy (15-3-0)
Staten Island Academy was upset in a NYSAISAA play-in game, but Stony Brook-bound Danielle Fuller helped lead the Tigers to their fourth PSAA title in five years.

No. 15 LaGuardia (11-3-0)
LaGuardia’s season ended with a bitter 3-2 overtime loss to Bayside in the PSAL Class A quarterfinals, but with freshmen Natalie Turner Wyatt and Erika Yamazaki returning, the Athletics should be a contender for years to come.
