Floral Park Memorial prepares for field renovations
For the 2012-13 school year, the Floral Park Memorial football field will be replaced and a new sprinkler system will be installed, providing the school’s teams and performing groups with an updated space for practice and competitions. The new field will complement the recent expansion of field space created along Vandewater Street behind the faculty parking lot.
Work will begin on the field in mid-July and will continue throughout the school year. In order to properly install the sprinkler system and allow the grass to grow properly, the field will be closed for the entire school year. However, thanks to the support of the District and the entire community, there will be no interruption in athletic and music programs. Rehearsals, practices, and games have all been relocated in order to minimize the impact and to maintain Floral Park Memorial High School’s vibrant extra-curricular tradition.
While access to the field will be restricted, school and community members will still have full use of the track.
