    NASSAU COUNTY

    Conference I

    East Meadow 34, Freeport 33 (ARTICLE - PHOTOS)-- James D’Elia scored on a 5-yard run off a double reverse with 7:13 left and East Meadow stopped Freeport on downs on the 9 with 2:17 left as the Jets won the Nassau I championship at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium. Robbie Healy caught two long TD passes from Dylan Curry and added a 13-yard scoring run to break the Nassau single-season record with 36 touchdowns. Freeport’s Kevin Allen scored 35 in 2009. Isaiah Barnes threw for 320 yards and four touchdowns for Freeport (9-2). East Meadow (10-1) will face the winner of the Sachem North-Floyd game in next weekend’s Long Island Championship game at Stony Brook.

    Garden City 35, Wantagh 7 (ARTICLE - PHOTOS) -- Mark Ellis had 87 yards on 16 carries and three total touchdowns to break the Garden City record for touchdowns in a season (20) as the Trojans rolled past Wantagh in the Nassau II championship at Hofstra.

    Lawrence 64, Plainedge 34 (ARTICLE - PHOTOS) -- The Golden Tornadoes scored the last 31 points to win the Nassau II championship at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium. Lawrence quarterback Joe Capobianco passed for a Nassau playoff record 333 yards, including touchdowns passes of 18 and 67 to Ed Robinson, 62 yards to Ryan Fredericks and 17 yards to Jordan Fredericks. Lawrence is 10-1 and will play for the Long Island Championship next weekend at Stony Brook. Plainedge finished 7-4.

    Roosevelt 21, East Rockaway 14 (ARTICLE - PHOTOS) -- Erin Parker had 192 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries and threw a two-point conversion as No. 2 Roosevelt beat No. 5 East Rockaway, 21-14, in the Nassau IV finals. This is Roosevelt’s first Nassau title since 2006. East Rockaway has never won a county title. Roosevelt (8-2) advances to the Long Island Championship against the winner of Glenn vs. Amityville at noon on Saturday at Hofstra.

    SUFFOLK COUNTY

    Division I

    William Floyd 35, Sachem North 20 (ARTICLE - PHOTOS)-- Stacey Bedell ran for 258 yards on 36 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Colonials to a 35-20 victory Sunday night at Stony Brook LaValle Stadium, where a crowd estimated at more than 4,000 watched Bedell and Dalton Crossan stage a memorable individual duel. Crossan ran for 218 yards on 35 carries and scored touchdowns on runs of 29, 10 and 14 yards. He leads Long Island with 38 TDs. Bedell, who scored on runs of 39, 15 and 9 yards and has 35 TDs, set a school record with 68 for his career. He has rushed for a school-record 2,120 yards.

    Division II

    Newfield 14, East Islip 13 (ARTICLE - PHOTOS) -- Ron Denig's touchdown in with 3:00 left in the third quarter gave Newfield (8-3) the lead. Newfield wins the Suffolk II Championship for the first time in school history. Newfield will face Garden City in the Long Island Championship next Friday at 4:00 at Hofstra. East Islip finishes 8-3.

    Sayville 28, Westhampton Beach 6 (ARTICLE - PHOTOS) -- Steven Ferreira was 13-for-17, throwing for 205 yards and two touchdowns as Sayville defeated Westhampton Beach, 28-6 in the Suffolk County Division III championship Sunday afternoon at LaValle Stadium at Stony Brook University. Sayville will face Lawrence November 28 at Stony Brook for the Long Island Class III championship.

     

    Division IV

    Glenn 42, Amityville 30 (ARTICLE - PHOTOS) -- Rich Czeczotka passed for three first-half touchdowns and ran for two scores in the second half as the Knights (10-1) won the Suffolk IV championship at Stony Brook. Glenn will defend its Long Island Championship against Roosevelt next Friday at noon at Hofstra. Tom Forsberg and Nick Wagner each scored twice for Glenn. Da’rell Hatcher scored two touchdowns for Amityville (9-2).
