Wheatley had more and better scoring opportunities, but Broadalbin-Perth took advantage of one of its few to defeat Wheatley 1-0 in the state Class B finals at Middletown High School. Ben Bellandi put on a display of deft dribbling getting passed two Wheatley defenders and then hooking a shot to the left corner for the lone goal with 13:14 left in the game. Wheatley had a chance to tie one minute later and the shot went wide. Wheatley finished the season 15-4-2 and this was the first loss of the season against a Class B team. Broadalbin-Perth is 19-0-3.

Daniel Solomon scored off a pass from Jonathan Kowalczyk with 16:54 left to lead Wheatley over Clinton Central, 1-0, in the boys Class B state semifinals. Eric Orologio had nine saves in the shutout. Wheatley (13-3-2) advances to the championship against Broadalbin-Perth at 10 a.m. on Sunday at Middletown High School. Clinton finishes 20-1.

BJ Schiela converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute to break a 1-1 tie and bring Wheatley back from a 1-0 deficit to win the Class B Regional Final. Wheatley advances to the State semifinal against Clinton, Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Middletown High School.

Jonathan Kowalyczk scored 47 seconds into the second overtime off an assist from Dan Solomon as Wheatley (11-3-2) beat Mattituck in the Class B Long Island Finals at Diamond in the Pines. Wheatley advances to the southeast regional final to be played on Saturday against Section 1's Blind Brook.
