Hills West sweeps West Babylon
Half Hollow Hills West came into Monday’s match-up posting a 2-3 record, meanwhile West Babylon (4-3) attempted to continue their hot start of the season. Hills West looked to get back in the win column after dropping their last three contests.
The Colts got it going right away, with the score 21-18 in favor of the Eagles, Hills West was able to pull off the comeback as they would tie the game at 23. Then with the win in sight, they would pull away and take down game one, 25-23. In the game, Hills West shined with 12 kills and 8 aces.
Game two was where the Colts really took a strangle hold of the match. A long point streak would find Hills West at a score of 24-12, but they weren’t able to finish it off right away as West Babylon battled to stay alive. Though, it was only short lived as the Colts downed the Eagles 25-13 and control a 2-0 advantage.
However, West Babylon would not give up in the third game. The Eagles controlled the ball for much of the early points of game three, but it was Hills West’s day, as they scratched and clawed their way back to a tie at 11. From there, the Colts outscored West Babylon 14-7 and swept the match, three games to none.
With the win, the Colts get back on the winning side of things and even their season record at 3-3. The loss for West Babylon drops the Eagles to an even 4-4. In the loss Paige O’Connor shined, she collected 10 digs, 12 kills, and 6 blocks, on the other side, Hills West was led by Kathryn Teets’ 10 kills, 4 blocks, and 5 service aces.
