Holy Trinity among top blood donors in NY state
Hicksville, NY– This year during the Long Island Blood Services awards recognizing local high schools for their blood drives, Holy Trinity High School was No. 5 for most units donated and was recognized with the “Heroglobin” award. In addition, New York Blood Services announced that the school was No. 6 in the state for blood donations this past school year.
For over 30 years, Holy Trinity Diocesan High School has been holding two blood drives each year, once in the fall and another in the spring. Last year for the first time, the spring blood drive held in April was extended into the evening hours to allow the local community to participate.
Teachers Jack Lannig and Michelle Becker, along with about 25 students, work with Long Island Blood Services to organize the blood drives. Mr. Lannig commented on the recognition, “Giving is a way of life here at Trinity. Whenever we ask our community to help others, they always come through.”
Holy Trinity High School is a private, co-educational Catholic high school founded in 1966 drawing students from Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties. It has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education Exemplary Schools Program and is nationally known for its outstanding Academics, Athletics and Performing Arts programs.
