HT alum Cameron activated by NFL's Browns
Former Holy Trinity defensive lineman Ronnie Cameron has been activated by the NFL's Cleveland Browns.
Cameron, a 2006 graduate of Holy Trinity, was promoted from the practice squad on Friday and is eligible to play in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The 6-2, 305-pound defensive tackle led the Titans to a 2006 CHSFL AA championship and was named to Newsday's All-Long Island team as a senior.
After two seasons at Hofstra, Cameron transfered to Old Dominion when Hofstra shut down its football program in 2009. At ODU, he earned AP second-team All-America honors and was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Colonial Athletic Association in 2011.
“I was just happy, happy to have an opportunity to help this team,” Cameron told the Browns' official web site. “That’s all I’ve been waiting for, an opportunity to help this team get some wins, especially, this week. It’s a big week coming up and playing Baltimore. Whatever I can do, whatever capacity I could be in to help, that’s what I’m looking forward to doing.”
