Levittown, NY -- Locust Valley made their way south on Thursday, as they met up with the Bulldogs of Island Trees on MSGVarsity.com’s livecast of girls volleyball.

The Falcons came into the contest looking to get their season back on track after a  2-5 start and losers of their last three games. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs were a team very much on the other side of the spectrum. Island Trees sporting a 5-2 record was aiming at another victory after their sweep of Roosevelt.

The game, originally scheduled for 4:30pm, had a 5:05pm start due to traffic. However, that didn’t seem to stop Locust Valley as they got off the bus ready to play.

In game one, the Falcons started off hot and gained a quick lead, but after a Bulldog timeout, Island Trees was able to cool off Locust Valley. A once seemingly impossible defecit was cut to just three points at 20-17, eventually Island Trees found themselves tied at 24. Shamar Sanchez highlighted the comeback with big hit after big hit. So this one would head to the tiebreak, where Island Trees had some unfinished business. Behind the steady serving of Ashley Bourgode, the Bulldogs were able to complete the comeback and take down game one, 26-24.

With all the excitement from the first game and Island Trees clearly with the momentum, Locust Valley forced its way back in the contest. The Falcons again jumped out to a big lead, but another comeback from Island Trees cut the lead to two. However, that was as close as it would get as Locust Valley received terrific serving by Kirnendra Sidhu, and the Falcons tied the match at one with a 25-15 game two victory.

Moving to the third, this one was much more an even battle as each team would trade possession for most of the game. It would remain hotly contested until at 22-20 in favor of Island Trees, Colleen Smith serving for the Bulldogs took control of the game and finished off the last three points to gave her team a very important 2-1 lead after four games.

The fourth game would be the final one as Island Trees was able to overcome yet another quick start from Locust Valley. The Bulldogs battled back to take a 16-9 lead, finally capping off the day with the 25-20 win in game four.
