Live game primer: Sachem East vs. Brentwood girls hoops

UPDATE: The game, which was originally scheduled for 5:45 p.m. will start at 7:00 p.m.

With the regular season coming to a close each win becomes more and more important.

Both Sachem East and Brentwood will be clawing for another late-season win as both teams meet in a League I girls basketball contest Thursday evening at 5:45 p.m.

The first place Sachem East Flaming Arrows (11-1, 13-2) are winners of their last five games and have won 9 of 10. They last took the court on Tuesday night by just edging out Longwood, 58-52. Katie Doherty led her team in points for the ninth straight game by dropping a game-high 18 points, including four rebounds and three assists in the victory.

Brentwood (11-6, 7-6) is sitting in fourth place in the league and will look to stay above .500 in its regular season finale. The Indians are coming off a 40-28 victory over their opponents intra-district rivals, Sachem North. Natasha Almonacy and Alexia Douglas both led their squad in points by scoring a game-high 12 each.

Be sure to join Kevin Brown on the call in a crucial League I showdown at 5:45 p.m. from Sachem East HS.
