Live meet primer: Wantagh vs. Bellmore-JFK

The number one team in New York State gets ready to defend its top ranking as Wantagh hosts Bellmore-JFK in a Nassau County dual meet contest.

The action is set to begin at approximately 5:00 p.m. from Wantagh HS.

The Warriors are no secret to success in the Long Island wrestling scene. They are currently ranked number one by the New York State Sportswriters Association and are two-time defending Nassau County dual meet wrestling champions.

Wantagh currently boasts three grapplers that are ranked number one in Nassau County in Vinny Turano (132), Danny McDevitt (170) and James Corbett (182).

Bellmore-JFK on the other hand is looking to stop the streaking Wantagh squad. The Cougars are 11-7 on the year and are coming off a strong performance at the Oyster Bay Duals with dominating victories over the Baymen and Roslyn. The Cougars are led by three-time All County and two-time All-State grappler Robert Person at 120 pounds.
