Livecast primer: Garden City vs. Wantagh lax
Weather may have postponed the start of this heated rivalry but there should be no shortage of action today as Garden City takes on Wantagh in the Nassau County Class 'B' title game at Hofstra.
The game, which can be seen live on MSGVarsity.com, will premiere Saturday, June 2 at 8 a.m. and replay Monday, June 4 at 10 p.m. on MSG Varsity Channel 14.
Garden City, the top team in the nation, will look to defend its crown against Wantagh.
The Trojans are the consensus top team in the nation, ranked number one by MSG Varsity and by four national polls including LaxPower.com and InsideLacrosse.com. Winners of 18 in a row, Garden City had no problem getting past Division-Levittown, South Side and Long Beach to reach the finals.
The trio of Justin Guterding, Devin Dwyer and Liam Kennedy dominated in its semifinal win over Long Beach by combining for 18 points on 15 goals, while Dan Marino made eight saves in the victory.
Wantagh made sure that a repeat performance of the Wood Stick Classic wouldn’t happen this year in the Class ‘B’ finals with a 17-11 win over Manhasset. Matt Blazano led the way with four goals, while Kyle Cain, Brian von Bargen, and Corey Stavis all potted hat tricks of their own for the win.
