Livecast primer: Long Island football doubleheader
Take two!
MSGVarsity.com continues its wall-to-wall football coverage as Gametime Livecast presesnts a double-dose of gridiron action.
Suffolk County gets a head-start on the action at 2:30 p.m. as William Floyd travel to Bay Shore for a marquee Division I contest.
The Marauders had a lot of momentum heading into the 2012 season, but unfortunately things have not the way of Bay Shore in the first four weeks. Bay Shore is currently 1-3 on the season but that number can easily be flipped if it weren't for some unlucky breaks, most notably surrendering a 27-0 deficit to Longwood in Week 1, and falling in a marathon 63-62 overtime thriller to Sachem North the following week.
William Floyd, just like Bay Shore had an incredibly disappointing Wweek 1 with a loss to Connetquot, but unlike its Week 5 opponents the Colonials have been able to turn things around. Three straight wins against Sachem East, Brentwood and Longwood has William Floyd on the right track in Division I where it stands at 3-1.
In the second-half of our double-header, two Conference III rivals will tangle as Bethpage travels to Plainedge for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff.
Both teams will meet in a rematch of last year's Conference III semifinal conteset in which Plainedge put an end to Bethpage's undefeated season. If the Golden Eagles are looking to exact a bit of revenge on the Red Devils, they'll have to put a lot of points on thte board. Bethpage has had a frustrating season, getting off to a 1-3 start with a lot of young players in the system.
Plainedge on the other hand is looking for its fifth straight victory on the campaign. Quarterback Nick Frenger is tearing apart defenses, throwing for seven touchdowns in four games. And with each game he has thrown for triple-digit passing yardage. Gianfranco Soriente will have to be contained if Bethpage wants to keep it close. Last week Soriente ran for 211 yards on 32 carries, scoring 3 touchdowns.
Join us for all the action live on Saturday for this exciting football double-header.
