Livecast primer: Mercer Island vs. Sachem North
Two schools separated by 2,901 miles will come together on the lacrosse field Saturday evening as the Islanders from Mercer Island High School in Washington meet the Flaming Arrows of Sachem North on MSGVarsity.com Gametime Livecast.
Face-off is scheduled to commence at 6:00 p.m. at Sachem North High School.
It’s the first of three cross-country boys lacrosse matchups that MSGVarsity.com will exclusively livecast in the next two weeks (April 9 – Mountain View [CA] vs. Farmingdale; April 10 – Bellevue [Washington] vs. Oceanside.
The Flaming Arrows have been firing on all cylinders since opening up the season two weeks ago in Maryland against Archbishop Spalding in which Sachem Arrows topped the Maryland-based school, 9-7.
Since that victory, Sachem North has outscored its last two opponents (Commack, 14-2; Connectquot, 16-4) by a combined score of 30-6. Kyle Rhatigan has led the Flaming Arrows in scoring in the previous two wins with a whopping eight goals and 5 assists; while Cody Petillo was right behind with 6 goals and 4 assists.
Sachem North has fared well in games against out of state opponents. The Flaming Arrows have won its last four contests dating back to 2009 when playing teams from outside the Empire State.
The Islanders enter its first of three straight games against Long Island teams with a 6-1 record. Its lone loss came in Mercer Island’s most recent outing, a 9-7 loss to undefeated Issaquah.
Mercer Island sports three attackmen with goals in double-digits – Connor Bernal (15 goals), Grant Preisler (10 goals), and Alex Robbs (10 goals). Expect to hear those names mentioned quite a few times during the broadcast.
