    With Oyster Bay down by one run and one out in the seventh, Andy Galgano laid down a precision suicide squeeze to drive in James Treiber to tie it at 3. Rob Venegas singled, stole second and scored on an infield error as the Baymen scratched out a victory over Frogs ace Mike Delio.

    Flynn's potential home run turned into an easy flyout in the first inning. By the fourth, he had figured out how to deal with the wind, which sometimes blew in and sometimes blew across toward rightfield. Flynn lined a pitch from Nick Clemente into the rightfield corner for a double, igniting a three-run inning that put the Patriots ahead for good.

    Delio throws 1-hitter after perfect game last week

    Delio pitched a one-hitter with three walks and 14 strikeouts for Carle Place in a 14-1 win over East Rockaway in Nassau BC baseball. It was the junior's first start since throwing a perfect game in which he struck out all 21 batters on April 1 against Hempstead.

    Pitchers Jonathan Doyle and Jason Beck were stingy. Shortstop Alex Perry and catcher Stephen Hutchingson supplied power and defense. Centerfielder Jake Mitchnick delivered three hits. The quintet combined to produce a gritty 2-1 victory over host Hicksville Monday in a Nassau AA-I baseball game that barely beat the evening downpour.

    Division's Anthony Papa tosses perfect game

    Papa, a junior, Monday tossed the first perfect game of his career and the first perfect game for Division (5-1) since at least the 1970s in an 8-0 win over Great Neck North in League A-II baseball, coach Tom Tuttle said.

    Inside Delio and Iglesias' perfect connection

    Delio reached back and threw a fastball that got Romar Marion swinging for the final strikeout of the perfect, perfect game in Tuesday's 15-0 win over Hempstead. It is inconceivable to think that a pitcher could strike out every batter in a high school game -- that no batsman could put the bat to the ball in fair territory.

    Tardif steals, deals for Mattituck in win

    Tardif was dominant and, most of all, gave the Tuckers (6-1, 5-1) the time they needed. Mattituck scratched out a run in the bottom of the ninth to win a marathon pitching duel, 3-2.

    Even though he didn't get to duplicate the no-hitter he pitched in his last outing against Whitman last Tuesday, Buckstein tossed five more no-hit innings Tuesday in a 9-0 victory over Half Hollow Hills East.

    Morse code: Connetquot tops Northport

    The Connetquot junior went 5-for-5 -- three doubles, two singles -- with an RBI in a 9-4 win over League II rival Northport in Suffolk League II baseball.

    Renner's two-hitter leads St. Dominic in win

    While fielders and batters battled the steady rain that made conditions nearly unplayable at the Merrick Avenue field Saturday, Renner, the righty sidearmer from St. Dominic, perfected his own version of the rain dance -- a tango of tailing, dropping sliders, changeups and fastballs that stymied Kellenberg, 2-0, in the CHSAA opener.

    Flyers ace Spagnuolo is well-armed, confident

    Spagnuolo went 3-1 with two saves and had a 0.81 ERA in 30 innings in 2013. He didn't allow any runs or hits in two innings of relief in the postseason.
