    LONG ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP

    Sunday, March 9 (at Hofstra University)

    (S1) Northport 43, (N1) Baldwin 40

    Luke Petrasek had 14 points and Michael Milligan added 13 points for Northport in the Long Island Class AA final at Hofstra. Travais Hylton and Eric Mack had eight points each for Baldwin. Northport advances to the NYSPHSAA Class AA semifinal in Glens Falls on Friday.

    Saturday, March 2 (at Hofstra University)

    (1) Baldwin 64, (6) Uniondale 44

    Eric Mack had 17 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks and Travais Hylton added 16 points, eight assists and two steals for top-seed Baldwin (17-3) in the Nassau Class AA final. Elijah McMillan added 11 points in the win for the Bruins, who won their third county title in six years. Baldwin will face Northport in the Long Island Class AA championship game on Saturday at 9:30 at Hofstra. Aaron Cust led Uniondale with 20 points.

    SEMI-FINALS

    Tuesday, February 26 (at SUNY Old Westbury)

    (1) Baldwin 46, (5) Hicksville 41

    Senior Mike Abrahams had a career high 12 points and added nine rebounds and four assists, Travais Hylton had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists and Eric Mack had eight points and 12 rebounds to lead No. 1 Baldwin over No. 5 Hicksville in a Nassau Class AA boys semifinal. Baldwin will play Uniondale in the finals at 3:30pm on Saturday at Hofstra. It is the seventh straight county title appearance for Baldwin.

    (6) Uniondale 67, (2) Farmingdale 65

    Alan McDonald (eight points, seven rebounds) came away with a steal and a fast break dunk to put Uniondale in front 65-64 for the first time in the game with 41.5 seconds left and Aaron Cust had 28 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists to lead No. 6 Uniondale (12-7) over No. 2 Farmingdale in a Nassau Boys Class AA semi final. Uniondale moves on to play Baldwin on Saturday at Hofstra at 3:30pm.

    QUARTERFINALS

    Wednesday, February 20 (at higher seed)

    (1) Baldwin 45, (8) Freeport 39

    Travais Hylton scored eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter, including two three pointers. Eric Mack had his third tripple double of the season, scoring 11 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and blocking 10 shots. (1) Baldwin will face (5) Hicksville in the semifinals on Tuesday at SUNY-Old Westbury at 7:30pm.

    (7) Uniondale 60, (3) Elmont 57

    Aaron Cust (20 points and four assists) converted a three-point play with 27.7 seconds remaining to put Uniondale ahead 56-53 and Cust also scored the Uniondale's next four points to lead No. 6 Uniondale (11-7) over No. 3 Elmont in a Nassau Class AA boys quarterfinal. Jerel McGary added 15 points and three assists and Tyler Desire chipped in with four points and 11 rebounds. Uniondale moves on to play Farmingdale on Tuesday at Old Westbury.

    (2) Farmingdale 72, (10) Carey 59

    Dalique Mingo had 21 points, Kevin Petit-Frere had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Curtis Jenkins had 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 2 Farmingdale (14-3) over No. 10 Carey in a Nassau Class AA boys quarter. Farmingdale moves on to play Uniondale at Old Westbury at 5:00pm on Tuesday.

     

    FIRST ROUND

    Saturday, February 16 (at higher seed)

    (8) Freeport 50, (9) Calhoun 46

    Kyhiem Chaplin scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half to lead No. 8 Freeport (12-6) over No. 9 Calhoun in the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Chaplin hit back-to-back three-pointers late in the third quarter to give the Red Devils a 36-30 lead. Junior Davelle Hooks added a career-high 14 points. Tommy Murhpy scored 14 points for Calhoun. Freeport will face No. 1 Baldwin at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

    (5) Hicksville 64, (12) Oceanside 53

    Nick Petrucelli scored 25 points with seven rebounds and four assists as No. 5 Hicksville (14-4) beat No. 13 Oceanside (10-8) in the first round of the Nassau class AA playoffs. Joey Enderle scored just two points but led Hicksville on defense. Hicksville will play at No. 4 Great Neck South, Wednesday, in a quarterfinal game.

    (6) Uniondale 74, (11) East Meadow 61

    Aaron Cust had 21 points as Uniondale (10-7) exploded for 30 points in the fourth quarter to beat East Meadow (9-9) in the first round of the Nassau class AA playoffs. Uniondale will play at No. 3 Elmont, Wednesday in a quarterfinal game.

    (10) Carey 59, (7) Port Washington 42

    Junior Adrian Denner had season-highs of 25 points and 20 rebounds and added four assists and four blocks to lead No. 10 Carey (9-10) over No. 7 Port Washington in the first round of the Nassau Class AA Playoffs. Carey will face No. 1 Farmingdale in the second round on Wednesday at Farmingdale at 6 p.m.

     

    OUTBRACKET

    Thursday, February 14

    Oceanside 76, Massapequa 65

    Hunter Sabety had 18 of his career high 48 points in the fourth quarter to go along with 20 rebounds and Casey Kelly had 22 points and nine assists to lead Oceanside (10-8) over Massapequa in a Nassau Class AA boys basketball out bracket contest. Oceanside move to play No. 5 Hicksville on Saturday.

    Carey 59, Herricks 56

    Nick Spillane scored all 13 of his points in the second half, including nine in the fourth quarter and added six assists and Adrian Denner had 13 points, 11 rebounds, six blocks and four assists to lead Carey (8-10) in a Nassau Class AA boys basketball out bracket playoff game. Carey moves on to play No. 7 Port Washington on Saturday. Andrew Fellus scored 18 of Herrick's 20 points in the fourth quarter and had 31 in the game.
