Nassau County football finals

The following are the Conference final matchups for Nassau County. All games at Hofstra University.

Conference 1:
(1) Freeport 33, (2) East Meadow 34

James D’Elia scored on a 5-yard run off a double reverse with 7:13 left and East Meadow stopped Freeport on downs on the 9 with 2:17 left as the Jets won the Nassau I championship at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium. Robbie Healy caught two long TD passes from Dylan Curry and added a 13-yard scoring run to break the Nassau single-season record with 36 touchdowns. Freeport’s Kevin Allen scored 35 in 2009. Isaiah Barnes threw for 320 yards and four touchdowns for Freeport (9-2). East Meadow (10-1) will face the winner of the Sachem North-Floyd game in next weekend’s Long Island Championship game at Stony Brook.

Conference 2:
(1) Garden City 35, (2) Wantagh 7

Garden City 35, Wantagh 7: Mark Ellis had 87 yards on 16 carries and three total touchdowns to break the Garden City record for touchdowns in a season (20) as the Trojans rolled past Wantagh in the Nassau II championship at Hofstra.

Conference 3:
(4) Plainedge 34, (2) Lawrence 64

The Golden Tornado scored the last 31 points to win the Nassau II championship at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium. Lawrence quarterback Joe Capobianco passed for a Nassau playoff record 333 yards, including touchdowns passes of 18 and 67 to Ed Robinson, 62 yards to Ryan Fredericks and 17 yards to Jordan Fredericks. Lawrence is 10-1 and will play for the Long Island Championship next weekend at Stony Brook. Plainedge finished 7-4.

Conference 4:
(4) East Rockaway 14, (2) Roosevelt 21

Erin Parker had 192 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries and threw a two-point conversion as No. 2 Roosevelt beat No. 5 East Rockaway, 21-14, in the Nassau IV finals. This is Roosevelt’s first Nassau title since 2006. East Rockaway has never won a county title. Roosevelt (8-2) advances to the Long Island Championship against the winner of Glenn vs. Amityville at noon on Saturday at Hofstra.
