North Babylon takes down East Islip
What a difference a few weeks makes.
On September 29th, the North Babylon Bulldogs were pushed around by East Islip, losing 38-13.
Bulldog senior Eric Marzocca caught a 32-yard touchdown pass near the end of the first quarter to give North Babylon a 14-7 lead after one.
But the Redmen battle back in the second and when senior Casey Nolan scored on one-yard plunge, East Islip took a 20-14 lead into the half.
That, however, didn’t scare the Bulldogs. They trailed by six at halftime but came back with vengeance scoring 24 points in the third quarter with the Bulldogs scoring two touchdowns within two minutes.
Quarterback Jake Conner ran one in from 37-yards and junior Matt Grassa scored from eight yards out to give North Babylon a 28-20 lead.
“We’re a second half team,” senior Jake Conner said. “We usually just take it in the second half.”
The lead grew to 15 before Nick Osburn's 61-yard touchdown but even that wasn't enough, as North Babylon wins 52-41, earning a spot in the county championship next week at Stony Brook.
