There’s an old saying that the best offense is a good defense. For the Vikings of North Shore, they got both.

The North Shore field hockey defense did not allow a single shot on goal in the first half, which spurned the Vikings to a 3-0 field hockey win over Carle Place on MSG Varsity Field Hockey Game Time.

North Shore got out to a quick start just six minutes in off a penalty corner, when Isabella Ahrens took a Michaela Dussel centering pass and fired a bullet past Carle Placce goaltender Leanne Iannucci. The Viking attack continued throughout the first half, just five minutes later Dussel sparked another goal, assisting on a Laura Wefer tally to put North Shore up by two goals heading to the half.

What was more astounding was how stifling North Shore’s defense suppressed the Frogs offense. The Vikings led in shots, 9-1 and held the Frogs without a shot on goal, as opposed to North Shore’s six.

The halftime break didn’t stop the Vikings offensive fire however.

Two minutes into the second stanza, Carly Comitino looked to have put North Shore up by three goals, however the tally was waived due to an offsides call. That didn’t disappoint the Vikings, as just 30 seconds later, Isabella Ahren’s twin sister Lindsay officially put her team up by three goals, which was all the offense North Shore needed for the win.
