The last time a Suffolk County team won consecutive county titles was the 1986 Centereach squad.
That was until Sachem East rolled around in 2013.
The Flaming Arrows not only erpated as Suffolk County Class A champions, but they captured back-to-back New York state championship with a 3-0 blanking over Liverpool.
Cara Trombetta was a big part of the Sachem East dominance.
The freshman finished the 2012 season with 27 points, second in Suffolk to her sister Katie, who is an All-American. One of those 27 points came in a non-league game against Garden City, which is considred the best of the best in New York.
Trombetta socred the game's only goal in that contest, leading Sachem East to a 1-0 win over the Trojans.
"We tried to stay focused as if it was just another game, but we really wanted to prove ourselves," said Cara. "This is an awesome feeling."
Despite her being an underclassman, Cara continued to contribute. She scored the deciding goal in the Suffolk Class A final against Bay Shore, followed it up with two goals in the state semifinal against Williamsville North. She topped it off with an assist in the game-winning goal against Liverpool in the state final.
Although her sister Katie will be leaving, there's no doubt Cara can continue carrying the Trombetta name and Sachem East to greatness for another year.
