    LONG ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP

    Saturday, November 12 (at Hofstra University)

    (N1) Massapequa 3, (S1) Lindenhurst 0

    Christian Smith had eight kills and 25 assists and Chris Husmann added 20 kills to lead Massapequa (20-0) to their first Division I Long Island championship.

     

    FINAL

    Thursday, November 10 (at Hofstra University)

    (1) Massapequa 3, (3) Plainview-Old Bethpage 1

    Chris Husmann had 20 kills and Christian Smith had 25 assists and 13 kills to lead No. 1 Massapequa (19-0), 24-26, 25-18, 25-15, 25-11, to their third straight Nassau Class A title. No. 3 Plainview-OB is 16-3.

     

    SEMI-FINALS

    Tuesday, November 8 (at Hofstra University)

    (1) Massapequa 3, (4) Long Beach 0

    Christian Smith had 26 assists and Chris Husmann and Steve Woessner each had 13 kills as No. 1 Massapequa (18-0) beat No. 4 Long Beach 25-15, 25-12, 25-21 in the Nassau Class A semifinal. Massapequa will vie for its third consecutive Class A Championship against No. 3 Plainview-OB Thursday at Hofstra University.

    (2) Port Washington 1, (3) Plainview-Old Bethpage 3

    Evan Schwartz had 45 assists and three aces, Noah Smitelly had 16 kills and Zach Feldman added 14 kills and 13 digs as No. 3 Plainview-OB (16-2) beat No. 2 Port Washington (15-3) 25-19, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19 in the Nassau Class A semifinals. Plainview-OB returns to the finals for the second straight season and will play No. 1 Massapequa, Thursday at 4:30 at Hofstra University.

     

    QUARTERFINALS

    Saturday, November 5 (at higher seed)

    (1) Massapequa 3, (8) Herricks 0

    Christian Smith had 26 assists and Chris Husmann added 16 kills as No 1 Massapequa (17-0) beat No. 8 Herricks 25-9, 25-10, 25-22 in the Nassau Class AA quarterfinals. Massapequa will play No. 4 Long Beach in the semifinals Tuesday at Hofstra University.

    (2) Port Washington 3, (7) Uniondale 0

    Jongho Dyun had 16 kills and five blocks, Kevin Nardone had 15 assists and five kills and Adam Cuthill had six kills and 12 digs as No. 2 Port Washington (15-2) beat No. 7 Uniondale 25-10, 25-15, 25-19 in the Nassau Class A quarterfinals. Port Washington will play No. 3 Plainview-Old Bethpage in the semifinals Tuesday.

    (3) Plainview-Old Bethpage 3, (6) Great Neck South 0

    Chris Ferolito had 12 kills and 10 digs, Noah Smitelli had eight kills and two aces, and Evan Schwartz had 34 assists to lead No. 3 Plainview-OB (15-2) over No. 11 Great Neck South (8-10) 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 in the Nassau Class A Quarterfinals. Plainview-OB will play No. 2 Port Washington in the semifinals on Tuesday at 4:30 at Long Beach.

    (4) Long Beach 3, (5) Syosset 1

    Bret O'Neill had 10 kills, 10 digs and three aces and Adam Lazare had 10 kills and five blocks and Andrew Still had 35 assists as No. 4 Long Beach (13-4) beat No. 5 Syosset (10-8) 25-11, 25-12, 23-25, 25-14 in the Nassau Class A quarterfinals. Long Beach will play No. 1 Massapequa in the semifinals Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Hofstra University.

     

    FIRST ROUND

    Thursday, November 3 (at higher seed)

    (8) Herricks 3, (9) Oceanside 2

    Jeffrey Kim had 49 kills and Joseph Yoon had 40 assists and seven aces as No. 8 Herricks (6-12) erased an 0-2 deficit to win 17-25, 24-26, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 against No. 9 Oceanside in the first round of the Class A playoffs. Herricks advances to play at No. 1 Massapequa at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

    (5) Syosset 3, (12) Hicksville 1

    Sam Gertler had 13 kills, Ian Hehut had 13 kills, and Jeff Alan had five digs to lead No. 5 Syosset (10-7) over No. 12 Hicksville (12-1) 17-25, 27-25, 25-19, 26-24 in the first round of the Nassau Class A Playoffs. Syosset will play No. 4 Long Beach in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 3:40 at Long Beach.

    (7) Uniondale def. (10) East Meadow

    (6) Great Neck South 3, (11) Calhoun 2

    No. 6 Great Neck South (8-9) defeated No. 11 Calhoun 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 25-27, 25-20 in the first round of the Class A playoffs. Great Neck South advances to play No. 3 Plainview on Saturday.
