Drew Sperruzzi drove home Sean Logan with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift No. 1 Shoreham-Wading River to a 3-2 win over Bayport-Blue Point Wednesday in the Suffolk Class A baseball championship game.
It's the second straight Class A title for SWR (20-5), which celebrated its third walk-off win in its last four games.
"To win three of four games in walk-off fashion shows resilience, determination and high character of the team," SWR coach Sal Mignano said.
Dan DeVito gave up two runs and five hits in the win.
Nick Bottari had three hits, including a solo home run in the first to give SWR a 1-0 lead.
This was the seventh matchup between the teams, with the latter three in the playoffs.
"It was a very different route than last year's. We had seven seniors graduate, so it was a different squad," Mignano said. "It's a great feeling, very rewarding to see the kids pull through."
Shoreham-Wading River will play the Nassau Class A champion in the Long Island title on Tuesday at Dowling.
