Christian Smith had eight kills and 25 assists and Chris Husmann added 20 kills to lead Massapequa (20-0) to their first Division I Long Island championship.

SEMI-FINALS

(1) Lindenhurst 3, (5) Bay Shore 0
Gerard Gigante had nine kills, Michael Comens had 11 kills, and Jimmy Lynn had 17 assists to lead No. 1 Lindenhurst (16-0) over No. 5 Bay Shore (10-5) 25-22, 25-19, 25-22 in the Suffolk Class A Semifinals. Ray Kelly added two aces and Joe Curry had two aces and three blocks. Lindenhurst will play No. 2 Northport in the finals on Wednesday at 7:30 at Longwood High School.
(2) Northport 3, (3) Sachem North 1
Pat Gathman had 34 assists and four blocks and Brady Ambro had 14 kills and three digs to lead Northport (16-1) to a 25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 25-13 win in the Class A semis. Sachem North is 10-6.
QUARTERFINALS
Friday, November 4, (at higher seed)
(5) Bay Shore 3, (4) Ward Melville 2
Joe Norman had 21 kills, Peter Jensen had 14 kills, and Greg Weissert had 48 assists to lead No. 5 Bay Shore (11-5) over No. 4 Ward Melville 20-25, 19-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-23 in the first round of the Suffolk Class A Playoffs. Good defense and good hitting were the keys to Bay Shore's comeback win. Bay Shore will face No. 1 Lindenhurst in the semifinals on Monday at 6:00 at Lindenhurst.
(3) Sachem North 3, (6) Smithtown East 0
Matt Cahill had 17 kills and six blocks as No. 3 Sachem North (10-5) beat No. 6 Smithtown East (8-6) 25-17, 25-13, 25-22 in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals. Sachem North will play at No. 2 Northport Monday in the semifinals.
(7) Sachem East 0, (2) Northport 3
Pat Gathman had 36 assists and eight blocks, Brady Ambro had 13 kills and four blocks and Kyle MacKnight added nine kills and three blocks as No. 2 Northport (15-1) beat No. 7 Sachem East (10-7) 25-11, 25-16, 25-11 in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals. Northport will host the winner of No. 3 Sachem North vs. No. 6 Smithtown East in the semifinals Monday at 6 p.m.

LONG ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP

ESM wins its second straight Division II Long Island title and advances to play Victor HS in the state final (a rematch of the 2010 game), Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cicero-North Syracuse HS.

SEMI-FINAL

(2) East Hampton 2, (3) Sayville 3
Joe Black had 14 kills, 20 assists and three aces, Matt Seeba had 15 kills, two blocks and three aces, and Scott Litvin had 25 assists to lead No. 3 Sayville (9-4) over No. 2 East Hampton (10-3) 25-20, 10-25, 32-30, 16-25, 26-24 in the Suffolk Class B Semifinals. Good team defense was the key to Sayville winning the fifth set. Sayville will play No. 1 Eastport-South Manor in the finals on Wednesday at 5:00 at Longwood High School.
