Top 30 LI Players to Watch: Rosie DiMartino
Want to know how big Massapequa girls soccer star Rosie DiMartino meant to the Chiefs in the 2011 girls soccer season?
Whenever the Chiefs leading scorer tallied a goal last year, Massapequa were a blistering 8-0-3. When DiMartino was held off the scoreboard, Massapequa had a hard time finding the win column by going 0-4-2.
Clearly DiMartino is the key to Massapequa's success. And with that, Rosie DiMartino is one of MSGVarsity.com's Top 30 Long Island Players to Watch for the 2012-13 school year.
Martino led all Chiefs last year in scoring, totaling 13 goals and two assists. But as the above stated, every one of those goals was crucial to Massapequa's success. She helped lead Massapequa to the Nassau County Class AA semifinals, only to fall victim to eventual New York State soccer champion MacArthur, 3-0.
It was a family affair in the semifinal game in which DiMartino faced cousins Jill Mulholland and Taylor Kruger.
Her efforts last season earned herself a Newsday All-Long Island girls soccer first team selection. She'll be continuing her soccer career once the 2012-13 year is over at Boston College.
