Longwood 14, Floyd 12 -- Stacey Bedell scored two touchdowns for William Floyd, however Longwood's completed point-after conversions proved to be the difference-makers as the Lions edged out William Floyd, 14-12. Longwood improves to 2-0 while the Colonials fall to 1-1.
Glenn 28, Mount Sinai 7 -- Nick Wagner's 88-yard touchdown to start the second half sparked a string of 21 unanswered points as John Glenn improved to 2-0 to defeat Mount Sinai, 28-7. Mt. Sinai falls to 1-1
Garden City 21, Wantagh 3 -- Patric Berkery ran for three touchdowns for Garden City (2-0 Nassau II).
Lynbrook 45, Plainedge 21 -- Rocco Scibelli ran for 206 yard and scored three touchdowns as the Owls defeated Plainedge, 45-21
Archbishop Stepinac 28, Chaminade 20 -- Joe Anile's Hail Mary pass to Tommy Zenker on third-and-long with four seconds to play fell five yards short as Chaminade (1-1) fell to Stepinac (2-0) in CHSFL. Anile finished 10-for-19, with 126 yards, and added 69 yards on 20 carries.
Mount St. Michael 27, Kellenberg 0 -- Najae Brown tallied three touchdowns in his first ever start at quarterback as Mount shut out Kellenberg in its season opener, 27-0. Kellenberg falls to 0-2.
West Babylon 16, East Islip 10 (OT) -- QB Clifton Melhado rushed for six yards in the extra frame as West Babylon improved to 2-0 and defeated East Islip, 16-10 in overtime. East Islip falls to 0-2 on the season.
Oceanside 27, Hicksville 21 -- Justin Buckley rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning points on a 20-yard score with 8:50 left in the fourth quarter, in Oceanside's 27-21 victory at Hicksville in Conference I.
Mepham 14, Carey 7 -- A.J. Heller threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Gordon for the go-ahead score to lead fifth-seeded Mepham (2-0) to a win over top-seeded Carey (1-1). Miguel Shaw led with 70 rushing yards and a touchdown. Kevin Tauriello added 67 yards on the ground. Heller finished with 134 passing yards and a score. Elias Lozada led the defense with 12 tackles. Shane Agostino had an interception and a fumble recovery to go along with six tackles. Joe Aliberti had seven tackles.
Locust Valley 35, Malverne 6 -- Joe Jacobi threw for 113 yards and a touchdown to lead Locust Valley (2-0) past Malverne (1-1). Chris Appell led Locust Valley with 85 yards rushing and a touchdown. Tyler Fallon led with 61 yards receiving and a score. Alex Rawa had an interception and returned it for 25 yards.
Hampton Bays 42, Wyandanch 22 -- Juan Ramirez had 135 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries and Andrew Morris added 135 yards and two TD's on 14 carries to lead Hampton (1-1) in Suffolk IV. Ramirez's one-yard TD with 1:22 left in the second quarter gave Hampton Bays a 21-8 halftime lead. Mike Ponnesse led the defense with 12 tackles, and Morris had 11 tackles. Wyandanch is 0-2.
North Babylon 26, Smithtown East 0 -- Tidquan Grant rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries to lead the North Babylon (1-1) offense in Division II. Connor Slane added the other touchdown for the Bulldogs and also contributed on defense with six tackles and one sack. Joe Stamm added five tackles and a sack.
Elmont 45, Herricks 0 -- Kyle Johnson had four catches for 79 yards and three touchdowns (2 receiving, 1 rushing) to lead Elmont (2-0) in Conference II. Will Faison completed 5 of 6 passes for 118 yards and three touchdowns, Qusarn Caldwell carried five times for 98 yards and a score and Ben Odugbesan had a rushing touchdown and returned a blocked punt 35 yards for a score. Bradley Atkins had two sacks and Patrick Laroque and Dennis Melendez each had a sack in the win.
Hewlett 35, South Side 14 -- Quarterback Mark Rizzo threw two TD's passes to Michael Gray and ran for two more in the first half as Hewlett (2-0) took a 28-0 halftime lead in Nassau III. Rizzo went 5-for-7 for 118 yards and rushed for 76 yards and two TD's on seven carries. Gabe Rodriguez had five solo tackles and Dylan Sasson added six tackles. South Side is 0-2.
Baldwin 37, Hempstead 8 -- Senior Eric Malone had three receptions for a career-high 104 yards and two touchdowns to lead Baldwin (2-0) over Hempstead (1-1) in Nassau I. Pat Dillon was 9 for 13 for 157 yards and three touchdowns, including a 52-yard strike to Malone early in the second quarter. Javaun Tomlinson had 17 carries for 111 yards and an interception on defense. Osama Albangbee made seven tackles and one sack and John Robinson and Matt Guilfoyle each had four tackles for Baldwin.
West Islip 36, Connetquot 0 -- Mike Cestaro led the West Islip (2-0) offense with 124 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in Division I. Anthony Santo completed four of eight passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. Mike Anaboli had eight tackles and a sack that forced a loss of 25 yards on a third down play. James Murphy blocked a punt for West Islip as well.
Sewanhaka 34, Valley Stream South 0 -- Malik Morris had 156 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead Sewanhaka (1-1) to a win over Valley Stream South (1-1). Kareem Are led the Sewanhaka defense with 11 tackles and one sack.
Calhoun 28, Carle Place/Wheatley 14 -- Leading 14-7 at halftime Julian Lee scored his third rushing TD with 9:14 left in the third quarter to give Calhoun (1-1) a 21-7 lead in Nassau II. Lee finished 171 yards and three TD's on 19 carries. Brandon Furia had an interception and fumble recovery, and Robert Rinck had 10 solo tackles and three sacks. Carle Place/Wheatley is 1-1.
Half Hollow Hills West 29, Whitman 7 -- Devante McFarlane recorded four total touchdowns for Hills West (2-0) in Division II. McFarlane rushed the ball 17 times for 144 yards and ran for three touchdowns, and added 64 yards in the air while completing five of nine attempts and a touchdown. Jaquese Jones ran the ball 18 times for 112 yards for Hills West as well. Randy Davis and Omar Clark each had nine tackles to lead the Colts' defense and Kevin Stanis added a 25 yard field goal to close out the game.
East Meadow 49, Farmingdale 0 -- Senior Robbie Healy had 14 carries for a career-high 193 yards and three touchdowns and Billy Andrle had eight carries for 41 yards and two touchdowns as East Meadow (2-0 Nassau I) cruised past Farmingdale (0-2). The Jets scored on all five of their possessions in the first half to take a 35-0 lead at halftime. Chris Buschi had nine carries for 64 yards and a TD and Nick Marinello had eights carries for 52 yards and a TD for the Jets. Lenny Volpe had two fumble recoveries and Andrle made eight tackles.
Division 28, Glen Cove 0 -- Joe Vanasco had 146 and two touchdowns to lead Division (2-0) to a win against Glen Cove (0-2). Petey Greene led the defense with 10 tackles. Division rushed for a total of 218 yards. The offensive line was led by Matt Reyes and Marcos Torres.
Floral Park 37, Great Neck North 7 -- Ronnell Jones had 190 yards on 13 carries, including two first-quarter TD's, to lead Floral Park (1-1) in Nassau III. Andrew Viola's interception for a touchdown in the second quarter gave Floral Park a 23-0 lead. Alex Sindoni led the Knights with 13 tackles, and Viola added nine tackles. Sophomore QB Alex Cerrone went 3-for-4 for 42 yards and a TD and 3-for-3 kicking extra points. Great Neck North is 0-2.
Center Moriches 13, Bayport-Blue Point 7 -- Myles Bell's 10-yard TD reception with 4:45 left in the third quarter broke a 7-7 tie and Center Moriches (2-0) held on for the victory in Suffolk IV. Bell had five catches for 48 yards and Tyrell Thomas went 8-of-13 for 110 and two touchdowns. Bayport faced 4th-and-5 from their own 45 with 1:00 left, and Bell came from his cornerback spot to make the tackle and prevent the first down. BBP is 0-2.
Ward Melville 30, Brentwood 20 -- Leading by 10 with three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Ward Melville's (1-1) Justin Joseph intercepted a pass on his own five yard line to end a Brentwood drive and secure the victory. With Ward Melville leading 22-20 near the end of the fourth quarter, Brendon Hegarty rushed the ball up the middle for an 8-yard touchdown, putting his team ahead by two scores. Hegarty also had an interception in the game and Ward Melville forced four turnovers in its win in Division I.
Massapequa 50, Valley Stream Central 18 -- Vassilli Grigorakos had 121 rushing yards and three touchdowns to lead Massapequa (1-1) to a win over Valley Stream Central (1-1). Matt Pagano threw four 182 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jon Dillon led the defense with 10 tackles, one safety, one forced fumble, and one interception.
Roosevelt 15, East Rockaway 14 -- Erin Parker ran 17 times for 167 yards and a touchdown and kicked the go-ahead extra point in the second quarter for Roosevelt (2-0 Nassau IV). Robert Sweeney was 8-for-14 for 151 yards and a touchdown and Teddy Santana caught four passes for 134 yards and a score. Khalil Wilson had two sacks, Manny Jones had 15 tackles and Johnnie Akins added 14 tackles. The Roosevelt defense held East Rockaway scoreless in the second half to preserve the win.
Valley Stream North 48, Clarke 41 -- Evan Henry caught a 72-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Martelli with :35 left to break a 41-41 tie and lead Valley Stream North (2-0) in Nassau IV. Clarke tied the game with 1:00 left on a Mike Martiello 17-yard TD run. Henry also had a 54-yard TD catch on North's first offensive play from scrimmage. Martelli went 7-of-13 for 262 yards and four TD's. He also rushed for 72 yards and a TD on eight carries and a two-point conversion that North a 21-0 first quarter lead. Kendal Levy and James Capoziello had eight tackles apiece and Osmund Mensah added two sacks.
Long Beach 39, Great Neck South 8 -- Chris Parler returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown and had a 76-yard TD reception to lead Long Beach (1-1 Nassau II) over Great Neck South (0-2). Tom Rowley was 4 for 12 for 90 yards and two TDs and had eight carries for 60 yards and a TD for the Marines. Matt Firpo's 12-yard TD reception capped a seven play 77 yard drive for Long Beach in the third quarter. Long Beach held GNS to 88 yards (1 rushing).
Freeport 49, Syosset 21 -- Isaiah Barnes threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns to go along with 108 rushing yards and one touchdown to lead Freeport (2-0) to a win over Syosset (1-1). This was Freeport's 11th win in a row. Jere Brown had four catches for 62 yards and added a rushing touchdown and a 30-yard punt return. Erroll Small and Maurice Irby led the defense with 10 tackles each. Leondre Simmon had an interception for Freeport.
Commack 45, Central Islip 12 -- Senior running back Brandon Cook amassed 101 yards on six carries, with three TDs and added a 30-yard fumble recovery at linebacker for another score to lead Commack (2-0) in Suffolk I. Cook added eight tackles, four for a loss, and three sacks. Billy Holscher went 6-for-6 on extra point attempts and converted a 30-yard field goal in the waning seconds of the first half. Defensive end Mike Karaolis had eight tackles and a sack on defense. Central Islip falls to 0-2.
Huntington 32, Bellport 14 -- Down 14-12 late in the third quarter, Huntington stopped a 4th-and-goal run from the 1-yard line and went to on score 26 unanswered points to improve to 1-1 in Suffolk III. Trayvon Toney caught TD passes of 73 and 52 yards and finished with 132 yards on four receptions. Toney also had 12 tackles and a forced fumble, and Tommy Mulligan scored a TD off a fumble recovery to extend the lead to 25-14 with 6:30 left in the game. Frank Caravetto added 10 tackles and a fumble recovery.
Uniondale 35, Port Washington 15 -- William Stanback ran for 173 yards with three touchdowns and added 41 yards on two catches, including a nine-yard reception to put Uniondale (1-1) up 21-7 at the half in the Nassau I matchup. Defensive end Marcus Ratley had six tackles, two sacks, and two picks, including a 41-yard interception return in the third quarter.
Kings Park 42, East Hampton/Bridgehampton/Pierson 7 -- Tom Milich had 12 rushes for 144 yards and four touchdowns, including a 45-yard run in the third quarter to cap the scoring for Kings Park (1-1) in Suffolk III. Luke Toscano ran for a touchdown and two-point conversion and recovered a fumble. Milich led the team in tackles with six.
St. John the Baptist 14, Xavier 6 -- Mathieu Mocombe rushed for a 6-yard touchdown and a 3-yard score to lead St. John the Baptist (1-1, 1-0) Saturday afternoon at Aviator Sports Complex. Devon Mitchell scored on a late 3-yard touchdown, but couldn’t convert the 2-point conversion for Bishop Ford (1-1, 0-1).
Sayville 35, Islip 14 -- Steven Ferreira hit Tom Hannan for a 68-yard touchdown pass on a broken play in the third quarter to break a 14-14 tie in Suffolk III. Ferreira picked up his own fumble before throwing the ball downfield to Hannan. John Haggart ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns for Sayville (2-0), including a 47-yard score in the fourth quarter. Islip is 1-1.
Amityville 24, Babylon 14 -- Sean Walters had a 41-yard touchdown run with eight minutes left in the third and Willie White added a six-yard TD run six minutes later to give Amityville (2-0) an 18-6 lead over Babylon (1-1) in Division IV. Damian Palmer had a 62-yard run in the fourth to seal the win. Sean Walters connected with Elijah Kelly for a 23-yard touchdown to tie the game at 6-6 in the second quarter.
Bethpage 37, Lawrence 19 -- Justin Rohr, Paul Bitetti and Danny Chillianis scored on touchdown runs of 14, four and eight yards, respectively to give Bethpage a 23-0 lead in its Conference III win over top-seeded Lawrence on Friday night. Bitetti added a 1-yard run in the third quarter and Rohr completed a 14-yard scoring pass to cap the scoring for Bethpage (2-0). Eight running backs combined for 288 rushing yards for Bethpage. Frank Camidge had nine tackles and a sack and Chillianis had an interception. Lawrence falls to 1-1.
Newfield 13, Smithtown West 6 -- Newfield QB/DB Mike Silva's 95 yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter proved to be the winning score in a tight defensive battle against Smithtown West (0-2). Silva also connected with Julian Santiago for a 16 yard touchdown pass in the final quarter. Newfield improves to 2-0.
Manhasset 49, Roslyn 8 -- Steve Fratello had 12 carries for 105 yards and three touchdowns to lead Manhasset (1-1, 1-1) in Conference III. Kevin Overlander completed five of eight passes for 139 yards with two passing and one rushing touchdown. Manhasset had five sacks in the game, led by Bobby Duvnjak with eight tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery.
Hamden Hall (CT) 49, Long Island Lutheran 43 -- Hamden Hall scored the go-ahead TD with less than two minutes remaining to defeat LUHI (1-2, 0-1) in their Fairchester Conference opener. LUHI totaled 482 and six TD's on the ground, as Tiquan Garner had 219 yards and two TD's on 19 carries. Garner's 33-yard TD run in the fourth quarter gave LUHI a 43-35 lead. Brandon Alford had 179 yards and two TD's on 12 carries, while Jordan Channer added 32 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. Sophomore Elijah Walters led the Crusaders with 10 tackles in first varsity start.
Riverhead 45, Hauppauge 13 -- Senior Charles Bartlett had 18 carries for 135 yards and a career-high four touchdowns (3, 12, 3, 5 yards) to lead Riverhead (2-0 Suffolk II) over Hauppauge. Ryan Bitzer was 14 for 22 for 172 yards with one touchdown and one interception and added three carries for 28 yards and one TD and sophomore Jeremiah Cheatom had 24 carries for a career-high 112 yards and one TD for the Blue Waves. Michael Hichy had five receptions for 71 yards and one TD, the game's first score. Reggie Moore made nine tackles with one sack and Mike VonBommel made eight tackles for Riverhead. Dominic Confredo scored on a 40-yard interception return for Hauppauge (1-1).
Cold Spring Harbor 26, Oyster Bay 14 -- Brendan Croasdale scored on a 7-yard run with 1:10 left in the first half to give Cold Spring Harbor (1-1) a 14-7 lead in Nassau IV. The drive was set up by a sack and fumble recovery by Kevin Porzelt. Croasdale scored on a 6-yard run in the third quarter to extend the lead to 20-7 and Gene Ball scored on a 74-yard fumble recovery to make it 26-7. Croasdale rushed for 67 yards on 11 carries with two TDs and Porzelt had 112 yards on 13 carries. Oyster Bay is 0-2.
Lindenhurst 7, Patchogue-Medford 6 -- After a missed field goal by Patchogue-Medford (0-2) in the fourth quarter, Alec Wrieth returned the ball 49 yards to the 50-yard line. Lindenhurst (1-1) put together an eight-play drive that ended with a David Fowler rushing touchdown with four minutes left in the game. Brad Witkowski was three for five passing for 46 yards on the drive. Lindenhurst had a total of six sacks. Josh Stewart led with 10 tackles and one sack.
Westhampton 38, Rocky Point 12 -- Linebacker Brian Culhane had 11 tackles, recovered three fumbles, including TDs on two. He scored on a 36-yard fumble recovery in the second quarter to give Westhampton (2-0) a 20-0 lead in Suffolk III. He later scored on a 58-yard fumble recovery to extend the lead to 32-0. Jack Murphy passed for a TD and rushed for a TD and Evan Gagne rushed for 87 yards on six carries. Brian Corrigan had two sacks and Dan Gomez had 10 tackles in the win. Rocky Point is 0-2.
Island Trees 32, North Shore 6 -- Senior Mike Jeannetti scored a career-high three touchdowns to lead Island Trees (1-1 Nassau IV) past North Shore. Jeannetti had 10 carries for 74 yards and one TD, a 58-yard TD reception and an 85-yard kickoff return TD on the opening kickoff. Kyle Nigro was 4 for 7 for 126 yards and one touchdown, Chris Pascalli had six carries for 88 yards and one TD and Matt Anzalone added four carries for 23 yards and one TD for the Bulldogs. AJ Barletta made seven tackles, Joey Howard made five tackles and one sack, Tom Sinclair made three tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery and Kevin Strauus, CJ Novak, Jackson Young, and Aaron Rosenthal each had four tackles for Island Trees. James Lennon scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Mike Divincenzo for North Shore's (0-2) only score.
Comsewogue 21, Eastport-South Manor 7 -- Anthony Marone scored on a 21-yard run in the first quarter and Kenny Scotland scored on a 32-yard pass from Ryan Keefe to give Comsewogue a 14-0 lead (2-0) in Division III. Marone carried 18 times for 124 yards and two touchdowns and Kenny Scotland caught two passes for 46 yards and a touchdown. Michael Krisa had seven tackles and a sack and Tom Hannel had an interception to lead the Warriors' defense. Ryan Curley had 21 carries for 140 yards and a touchdown to lead Eastport-South Manor.
Deer Park 46, Copiague 14 -- Austin Sweeting had 102 yards rushing and 111 yards passing and three total touchdowns to lead Deer Park (1-1) over Copiague (0-2). Vinny Vitale led the team with 108 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the defense with 11 tackles. Lance Rose had 212 all-purpose yards, including a 68-yard touchdown catch.
Miller Place 20, Harborfields 0 -- Matt Hinchy was Miller Place's (1-1) leading rusher with 114 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Alex Greenidge and Colin Ferrall led the defense with 10 tackles each. Ferrall added one sack. Cody McPartland also had two sacks. Miller Place totaled 278 yards rushing. Harborfields (1-1) totaled 110 yards of offense.
Port Jefferson 47, Southampton 0 -- Dan Serignese had touchdown passes of 15, 30 and 38 yards to lead Port Jefferson (1-1) in Division IV on Friday night. Anthony Lanieri had a 15-yard scoring catch in the first quarter and his twin brother Phil added a 38 yard TD reception to give Port Jefferson a 33-0 lead. Mike Sullivan and Joe Gerbino had eight tackles each, Phil Lanieri added two interceptions and Brett Ruggiero added a sack to lead the Port Jefferson defense.
Stony Brook 43, Mercy 35 -- Don Liotine had 217 all-purpose yards and the touchdown hat-trick: 2 rushing touchdowns, a receiving touchdown, and a pass for a score to lead Stony Brook (2-0) over Mercy (0-2). He also added nine tackles to lead the defense. Andrew White had a 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, his second week in a row with a return touchdown. White also added a sack and seven tackles.
