MSG Varsity kicks off 2011 football season
Coverage begins Sept. 9 with unprecedented coverage of 11 games, including three live match-ups.
BETHPAGE, NY, September 7, 2011–– MSG Varsity kicks-off the 2011 high school football season with more action than ever before. This season, MSG Varsity is tripling its coverage of opening weekend games, which includes 11 exciting matchups, three of which will be LIVE. The games will include the highly-anticipated LIVE matchup between nationally ranked #1 Don Bosco Prep (NJ) and #6 ranked Mission Viejo (CA). The schedule also includes six of the schools in MSG Varsity’s Top 25 Tri-State Area High School Football Poll.

Coverage begins Friday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. with MSG Varsity’s “Friday Night Football” series which will deliver two LIVE matchups simultaneously every Friday.
On Friday, September 9, Long Island, New Jersey and New York City viewers will watch Long Island powerhouse St. Anthony’s (LI) go head-to-head with visiting State College High School (PA). In the Connecticut/Westchester/Hudson Valley area, fans will watch Rye High School (NY) battle it out against Somers High School (NY). Former New York Giants stars Amani Toomer and Roman Oben will make their debut appearances as color analysts during these games – Toomer covering St. Anthony’s / State College and Oben the Rye / Somers game.

MSG Varsity is available exclusively to Cablevision’s iO TV subscribers on channel 14 and once broadcast, all games are available on-demand on channel 614. The Comcast Network will carry MSG Varsity’s broadcast of the State College @ St. Anthony’s game and the Don Bosco Prep / Mission Viejo game (check local listings). Additionally, throughout the season, The Comcast Network will carry select MSG Varsity games. The Don Bosco Prep / Mission Viejo broadcast will also be available for local viewers in California through Cox Cable (Cox3).
