Allentown did well to grab an early lead and despite its best efforts to pepper sophomore keeper Josh Samuels, Nottingham could not muster a comeback in a 1-0 loss on Thursday.

In just the sixth minute of play Redbirds star Anthony Derisi played an absolutely perfect through ball to striker Kevin Primich, who slid a low shot off the fingers of Nottingham goalie Chidi Iloka and inside the left post for a one-goal lead.

Following a few more minutes of Allentown pressure and a flurry of good saves by Iloka to keep the match at a one-goal difference, the tides turned and it was the Northstars who began dictating the play.

Allentown would have to clear the ball of its line several times, but Nottingham just couldn’t get the breakthrough it needed.

The second half was a mix of midfield play with a few scattered chances but both teams became conservative where they were aggressive in the opening frame. The Redbirds would catch a huge break midway through the second half when Jacob Kouroume was blatantly tripped inside the 18 but no call was made.

Allentown remains undefeated moving to 4-0 on the year, while Nottingham falls to 3-2 with the defeat.
