Cresskill baseball ready for summer competition
The Cresskill Cougars look to bring their late season momentum into summer ball. After having won three straight to conclude the regular season with the seniors, next year’s captain junior Danny Doku and the rest of the underclassmen look to continue their win streak June 2 as the first double-header of summer ball begins. The Cougars will play a 4 pm and 6 pm game away against Fort Lee, opening up the first two games of their 16 game season.
The team resumes practice Wednesday after taking the long week off. The morale of the players has increased after their recent success and they are now ready to have a winning season this summer. “I feel like we are going to carry what we did from the end of this season, winning four out of our last five, and bring it right into the Summer Season," Doku said. "We are going to keep building on that momentum and keep on getting better and better. Virtually, we are going to keep improving throughout the summer and then all of this will travel over into the next regular spring season.”
Danny Doku was primarily a third baseman and also a relief pitcher. He led the team in batting with a .345 average with 20 hits and 10 walks.
